Blackhatworld appears to be more white hat now

Been reading through some posts on the forum lately, and 2 things stand out.

When a newbie comes on the forum, and has a go at something, a lot of the long standing members shall we say, seem to criticise in a harsh way, and ridicule them. Never used to be this way when I first joined.

2nd, blackhatworld, again with the long standing members, seem critical of blackhat methods, and I don't know if they realise this, but when they suggest things on how to rank, they more or less suggest white hat ways of ranking.

Could it be that Google now has its way, and turned these once go-getters into armchair whitehats?? After all, this is blackhat world, not white!!

If I do that, I will just come in for a load of criticism and blame.
 
Define your "black hat" techniques
I am positive, your "blackhat" isn't the same defintion as what the "blackhat" in blackhat world represents.
You want cookie stuffers, reverse engineering, forced 301s, cloaking, botnets, doorways etc?
yeah, we don't do that here :)

Seems to me it's more of a work hard, put the effort in, give google what it wants type of stuff now. Blackhat was about spam Google, duplicate content, finding ways to trick Google.

I still use blackhat methods for SEO, and just fyi.. anything made artificially outside your website is considered black hat, and algo manipulation.. ( back links, guest posts... )
anyway, it's always good to have both options, and the selection goes for the webmaster choice.
 
And that's what I'm saying what blackhat used to be about.
 
ha ha...Indeed BHW members provide white hat techniques (which is really good for internet marketers like me since it aligns more with my marketing techniques).

I am a person who prefers White Hat techniques. So, I came to BHW many years ago and was strongly discouraged to join coz it appeared to be a dedicated Black Hat forum (with this terrible black theme) not suitable for my taste and ethics.

So I did not join at that time, but I was periodically checking the stuff in BHW every now and then and I found that it is a wonderful community place to be a part of where not only black hat, but valuable white hat things are discussed and shared.

So I decided to be a member and that's why I am here!

Nearly most all "discussed" are more or less blackhat techniques.
Anything you build that isn't more or less "natural" are blackhats.

People still discuss about spam and ways to gain google and other platforms.
But you have to understand, some people view it differently, Blackhat methods don't age as well as whitehat does.
Older members may be sick of trying to re-invent the wheel, and want to settle with something a bit more stable.

I’ve been here longer than you have and it’s always been this way. It’s not necessarily a bad thing. Nobody’s having a go at newbies for no reason. It’s only when a new user walks in and asks for ways to make $10,000 in 30 days because he gambled away his money and now needs to pay off some gangsters that older members step in a gently ask him to use the search function. Spoon feeding is an insult to the rest of us who’ve had to find out what we wanted to know the right way.

Some of those threads you’ve mentioned are also outright disrespectful and don’t take into consideration what it takes to be an IMer. Example : “I have no skills, no motivation and definitely no time. I have an old beat up PC that I bought for mining bitcoins back in 2010 though. Give me an automated way to make money on it.”

If anything, they’re critical of ’illegal’ methods. There’s a difference and content like that is against the forum’s ToS. They may be suggesting white hat ways because maybe that’s what they know? I’ve yet to see a long standing member say blackhat is bad. People usually get mixed up between blackhat and asshat.

I don’t recall any of those things mentioned above having methods being posted in 2016 when you joined. There’s a small topic on cloaking that was posted recently. But that’s all I can recall on any of this.

Nope, most were gone long time ago
Cloaking is still allowed i think to a degree
I mean, there have been post here and there, but they get deleted relatively fast xD
 
So looking through the replies above, looks like it is more of a whitehat world now.

We never been in a war with Google, in fact, google is my best friend! helped me making tens of thousands of dollars!
They get smarter, we Get smarter too, and not all Black hat methods are shared.. some of the methods are still alive since 2012 no matter how many updates on the algo's .. and it's still alive cause it's beeing used in wisely..
i recommend you upgrade to Jr-Vip there is a lot of " off the record " convos, for some methods that still works.
