That’s 600,000+ keywords. Even targeting the big and broad niches like roofing and plumbing. Let’s say the 10 biggest niches, that’s still 3,000+ keywords. As much as I’d love to target all these keywords, I simply don’t have the budget. You’d need very deep pockets for this. There are heaps of great keywords out there that I can afford to sell this service without risking running out of profitable keywords. Every site I sell allows me to invest into my own portfolio.
Are These Low Competition Keywords?
Over the year I’ve been offering keyword research as a service and being in internet marketing in general the buzzword remains. Low competition keywords. Everyone wants them. I’m going to say something that will probably upset a lot of IM people. Competition is GOOD! There’s usually a reason why a niche or keyword is low competition:

The only way to truly find low competition niches that are very profitable is to really understand whole sectors in a lot of depth. For local that’d mean studying something like my list of 2,000+ services and understanding costs for each and then doing research into the ones you think are high profit and high demand. If you can find a low competition niche from that then you’ve found yourself a low competition niche/keyword that’s worth targeting. What’s the point of targeting low competition keywords for little profit?
Furthermore, competition usually equals validation of demand which in turn equals profitability. If there’s 100 roofing companies in one area, then there’s a good chance there’s a healthy amount of demand otherwise the market wouldn’t support that many businesses. Keywords are no different. Seeing competition for keywords is not a bad thing.
