Does a "Dedicated IP Address" help SEO?

I'm not sure I buy this idea but I'm looking at hosting that is charging me extra for a "dedicated IP address" that is "better for SEO" according to them.

Sure, it sounds better to have a dedicated IP, but does that really matter? I mean, surely it is the domain itself that is the primary driver of the authority and reputation?

I should know these basics but I've never seen this marketing before of upselling me a "dedicated IP" address

Don't quote me on this as I might be wrong, but I doubt that it matters a lot. The thing with shared IPs is that you can be thrown into a "bad neighborhood" with lots of spam sites on the same IP. Sharing hosting with these spammers can negatively affect your rankings on Google, but if you get thrown into a "good neighborhood" with great authority sites with strong backlinks, then you might get a slight boost in rankings.

I've never experienced this, though, and that's just what I remember reading on other SEO forums, so take this with a grain of salt.

On the other hand, a dedicated IP gives you a fresh and clean base for your website. In theory, you can avoid potentially being seen negatively by Google, if you use a fresh dedicated IP. I use dedicated IPs for all of my sites because I prefer dedicated hosting. It's faster, gives me more control, and a peace of mind that other websites won't affect my rankings, since my website is the only one on that IP.

I would choose a dedicated IP for a serious project.

For example, you neighbor is doing mass emailing, and the IP gets blacklisted, which means emails from your domain won't reach users.

Short Answer- No. It has no correlation with seo. The hosting company you are looking at is either naive itself at best or is trying to fool naive webmasters at worst.

First, a "dedicated ip" itself is marketing mumbo. The internet protocol has no such thing called a "dedicated ip". All a dedicated ip is is a static ip address that your hosting provider claims will only be available to your machine.

Google doesn't care about what your ip is or who your neighbours are. If that were the case, all the folks who use shared hosting would never be able to rank their sites.

The only thing that slightly matter is when you are hosting your own mailserver and sending email through your ip. Chances are they might allocate you an ip that hosted spammers a day ago and the ip is still in blacklists
(This also doesn't matter much. Individual ips are removed from blacklists after a week or two when it stops sending emails. And, if the ip hosted spammers chances are the entire block is blacklisted anyways. So no use in getting a dedicated ip there)

Google doesn't care what ip your website has. Its not email that would keep count of ips in a blacklist (which too is stupid but since mail relay servers don't have unique identifiers like domain names, that's the only thing they can do)

Google cares about your site's content, and your site's link profile is what defines that "neighbourhood". Not your site's ip.

Had it been that way, people on shared hosting could never figure out how to rank their sites because google would keep deranking them, just because their site's ip in the past hosted a site that had ai generated spam. Webmasters would have gone nuts. SEOs would start calling it "the curse of polluted ips". People would start looking for ip address that were "clean" and "completely untouched". But since there are only so many ipv4 addresses available. We would start running out of them.

Thankfully, nothing like that happens. You don't see SEOs talking about "the curse of polluted ips". Neither do you see people paying a premium for never-seen-before ipv4 addresses.

If you asked whether it matters for email marketing, I would say YES undoubtedly. But this is SEO, it's an entirely different story and I think it doesn't matter.

When it will not help you in seo, so why the big boys (websites) most of them, have a dedicated ip?
Make a check in dnylytics reverse ip tool and see yourself, a client of me a small germany print company uses ionos with shared ip, the result is; (druckring.de)

"Found 20,819 domains hosted on IP address 217.160.0.164" I be shocked.....

Nytimes has only a few; Found 129 domains hosted on this ip address.....how can this be, that they have only a few and druckring.de 20.000's ?

Found 4 results domains hosted in this ip....all the 4 domains are danlok domains.

So what do you think when you will gain clients on Linkedin and they use this tool. Will this be a good sign in the eyes of your target audiences, when they see that your ip is shared with thousands other domains ?

Or only with 4 domains where you are th eowner (the danlok example) , what do you think will look better in the eyes of your audiences?

My view of this is with the danlok example, with a dedicate dip you will build a real seo estate foundation, not with an ip shared by 20.000's other domains...
An ip shared with 20.000's other domains is looking like a spam site for me.

But where can I buy a dedicated ip for a fair price ? (under $20 annually) what I found on the web are vpn providers I not need a vpn. Will a static ip from google cloud a solution to solve this?

How I impement a dedicated ip on my webhost who has a shared ip?

I had a dedicated IP some time ago and see no difference.
Also, in my niche many webmasters use cloudflare and they have no problem ranking their sites.
So the answer is NO.

ok, when I check sites like cnn, wall street journal, bcc, they not use cloudflare.
They use fastly, akamai or amazon cloudfront. (maybe they are wef member friends...) also I mean with that, you will not see many big sites who are using cloudflare.

So why ? ......theyare big and good business strategists so the yknow why not using cloudflare (my theory).
Same with byrdie com, big site who claims 90% organic seo traffic in cosmetic niche, they use fastly and amazon cloudfront.
There must be a strategic reason why they not use cloudflare.

It has some impact it makes your websit emore quality and more uniqueness, since nowadays google has an eye on unique websites.
But the bigger point will be that when google/bing deindexing your pages or stop sending you traffic, yep when your shared ip has bad neighbours (cloudflare shared ip too) , then not wonder when you get one day hit by bad neighbours and your traffic will decrease. Bing will kick you out fast.

When all the big guys and media news sites using dedicated ip (ok, they have dedicated servers) so why you as a small entrepreneur should lower your whole internet property quality and uniqueness ?
