@callum smith you just replied to a thread from 2022
Search engines rank domains and content, not IP addresses. A shared IP is perfectly fine unless you’re sharing with spammy or malicious sites (which reputable hosts avoid). Dedicated IPs are mainly useful for things like legacy SSL, certain server configs, or email reputation—not SEO.I'm not sure I buy this idea but I'm looking at hosting that is charging me extra for a "dedicated IP address" that is "better for SEO" according to them.
Sure, it sounds better to have a dedicated IP, but does that really matter? I mean, surely it is the domain itself that is the primary driver of the authority and reputation?
I should know these basics but I've never seen this marketing before of upselling me a "dedicated IP" address
Yes, a dedicated IP address can be beneficial for SEO. It improves hosting performance and makes your website more valuable in search engines.I'm not sure I buy this idea but I'm looking at hosting that is charging me extra for a "dedicated IP address" that is "better for SEO" according to them.

So then why all these big sites who dominate google SEO have an dedicated ip ?A dedicated IP has no direct SEO benefit Google cares about domain authority, content, and backlinks, not whether your site shares an IP. Only in rare cases of spammy shared IPs could there be a minor indirect effect.
