Google Update - May 27th 2022 - What I Have Noticed

There's so much conflicting chatter out in groups about who got hit, why they got hit, the types of sites that got hit, the type of content, the type of on page, the type of off page, etc etc etc.

IT IS ALL JUST CHATTER FOR NOW

Remember this rule of thumb with these basic updates … Don’t panic on day one unless you’re completely wiped out. Google says it takes 2 weeks to fully roll out.
So wait for the dust to settle before analyzing your SERP then blindly rushing in to make changes...
Also keep an eye out for a fix, Google can sometimes put out hints. tips as to the cause and how to rectify things.
Sometimes these basic updates have negative effects and sometimes they are positive.

Something else I have noticed.....

My website that is gaining rankings is using strong pbn links.

My other website losing rankings is "whitehat" (forum links, guest posts, niche edits). Not exactly whitehat but no pbn links.

So in a nutshell, PBN always wins.

Lost between 10 and 15% of traffic on my sites. First update that hit me badly... the others have always benefited me quite a lot. I see my SERPs the same in the correct positions, at least the ones that give me the most traffic. Let's hope with the days that it improves again since that 15% represents a lot for me.

I always pay attention to GSC and modify articles based on that and it's all white on my sites.

What changed was the quality of on page seo.

keyword clusters, keyword density, grammar, readability score, etc.

@homeriscool What I am seeing is that your posts doesn't have to be long necessarily. But they have to be meaningful.

In case of links, good quality links from either PBN or guest post or whatever seems to be working.

Suprisingly I am also seeing some forum posts to rank amoung blog posts.

I don't know if it's just in my niches, but I've noticed that the SERP has been filled with videos in the first position for "How To" type KWs. I literally have like 5 videos above my KWs, lol. This is bad.

It's because it's super useful. SEO = UX. Make sure to upload video's with timestamps, Google picks out the relevant part of the video and serves it to the searching person.

If they were videos from another site, I would agree with you, but they are Youtuber videos that out of 5, only one or two are relevant.

I will wait to see how this behaves, if in the end it stays as it is, I will have to upload videos to youtube.

Curiously enough, I've had a bump up in rankings and by association, visits to the site.
Not all of my reviews or guides are above 1k. What they do have though is quality, informative content that is genuinely helping others. That's the big secret to it, as well as high quality links from relevant content.
