yeah it sucks... DEAR, MATE and BRO sucks when you do not know me.. I have said this for years

"Mate" and "Bro" are used by a lot of native English speakers though, whereas "Dear" is relatively uncommon.

I have seen MNC in India address the applicants as Dear in their official communications. I think, it's a normal as per Indian English and not in American/British English. So, the title should be something like "stop calling American/British people dear"

Actually we say Alsalam Alikom (Peace upon you).. ! I have never heard anyone in Egypt says Welcome (Or Arabic translation for it) unless they are dealing with tourists or something

These threads will pop every now and then but nothing will change sooner.
Scammers or no scammers people from this region will keep addressing that way.
Complete westernization will take years, until every inch of land is urbanized (westernized).
Even the Brit's couldn't do it in 100+ years.

A friendly advice just avoid the cheap service providers & move to the native speaking ones.
You will end up spending more but with peace of mind.

I think there is a solution. If a buyer or seller addresses you with words that you are not comfortable with, just move on to the next buyer or seller and keep rinsing and repeating until you eventually find a buyer or seller who addresses you using the words you expect AND his or her deliverables also match your expectations.
In my particular case, I just concentrate on the deliverables, tat, pricing, instead of "dear, sir, madam".
If I was so touchy about "dear, sir, madam, etc", I would have lost lots of wonderful opportunities.
But, anyways, each one to their own, as far as individual expectations are concerned.

I never use all words, except Hello, Hi
Even if customer start using.
When someone irritate me I use ,"SIR"
In rare cases after months when a few friendly client use bro, I too use it , to give similar importance.
Personal words in professional world always sound annoying, I might have dropped many sellers due to use of dear , mate or sir with every sentence, every single line. I mean this really sucks.
And all this I do being in India.
I believe speaking in a same way as customer does, makes customer feel good. I don't know if I am wrong, but yeah I think and do so.
