HOW is this (compilation channel) monetized for years?

First off, I'm not hating. I'm just curious how he seems to be gaming the system. Obviously monetized because he has the 'join' and 'thanks' buttons. I've been following his channel low key for well over a year. He's been monetized the whole way through.

https://www.youtube.com/c/CrackAddictz/videos
He's basically breaking even rule in the monetization system:

1) re-used/stolen content: every single video he steals ENTIRE videos from other channels (though he focuses on 3 or 4 chiropractors in general) and puts sloppy cuts every 15 seconds to make it seem like it's work

2) using intentional sexualized thumbnails focusing on girls' chests and asses

3) does not add ANY new information or context to his videos. just stealing videos and pasting them as his

4) no real dialogue. only does a one sentence intro introducing his channel asking for a like and sub, then says the name of the chiropractor he's stealing from. Literally no work involved

Anyone able to explain this? Seems he's making a decent living doing what he's doing.

Is it because he's an aged account with a lot of subs? Is it because nobody's flagged him? Or none of the people he's stealing from have been alerted or don't care enough to do a copyright strike?

I'd like to do a similar type channel, but god I can't even get past a damn thumbnail getting a video demonitized these days. It's crazy.

it says creative commons (reuse allowed) so there's a big possibility that you won't get copyright in those vids

How do you know that he is monetized? If there are ads running on the channel does not mean directly that the channel itself is monetized. Chances are that the videos that he includes are copyrighted and therefore all the ads revenue will go to the owners that have copyright on these videos.

However there was a trick back in 2017 where a already demonetized channel could get monetized again through applying for monetization and then with Inspect Elements you could get automatically approved for it. That was already fixed tho and is not working anymore.

That's him specifying creative commons for the videos that he's uploading. Has nothing to do with the licensing of the people that he stole from. I'm sure 90% or more of the chiropractor channels he's stealing from are not creative commons.

As stated, I know because he has a 'join' membership system and 'thanks' button active. Neither are available unless you're monetized.

I was thinking this was a grandfathered account that he got monetized and maybe shifted niches after getting approved and went more blackhat with the stolen asmr stuff. But that still doesn't explain how he's gone so long breaking virtually every rule without being flagged by the youtube system and having his monetization suspended.

I know that's what a lot of the southeast asian and eastern european channels do before they start uploading nba clips and other copyrighted material.

The fact that he intentionally uses sexualized thumbnails is hilarious. It's like he's completely immune to the rules.

I've had a similar situation with my account. Monetization was enabled despite being in the compilation niche and using already published content. Sooner or later these accounts will get flagged and their monetization will be removed. Mine only got removed when someone was mass-striking my videos and i had the unfortunate decision to report it to Youtube. My account was not terminated but my monetization was gone. If i wouldn't have had this mass-striking problem happen, then i believe i would still be monetized as well.

asking myself the same question every day. I have a large demonetized music channel, struggling with demonetization all the time, while there are 10+ music channels (probably much more) doing exactly the same thing like me and they are monetized all the time.

Someone shared a method to check if the channel monetized or not.

Inspect ---> search... forgot it...

Right click on the youtube page --> Inspect page source --> ctrl + F (find) --> "monetization enabled" --> True = monetized / false = not monetized

This account is definitely monetized:

Yeah, I guess it's just the luck of the draw. With this niche (chiropractors) probably being a much smaller one than music, etc...he's able to fly under the radar a lot longer without being flagged or copyright claimed. Crazy because he's putting in such little work at this point stealing entire scenes and uploading multiple a day.

Yes, there are other methods. But in this case, you don't even need to do anything to know he's monetized.

Because you can't have a membership 'join' button without being monetized. So I already knew he was and has been for almost 2 years now.

porn.sex in this way. Just like how you upload a video, it takes a little trick. There are tricks to make it difficult for YouTube to detect your video.

In general, it is safer and more suitable for use in sound source revenue methods.

Care to elaborate?

I'm not even sure how it would be possible to get around their AI thumbnail detection. Anything that remotely looks like an ass or cleavage typically gets held for manual review.

Just checked and most the recent uploads aren't getting many views really, I wonder if the content is being suppressed for reuse/risky thumbnails etc

You would think that the original content owners (the chiropractor channels) would have this flag as their content and they claim against it?

The thumbnails seem okay to be honest - nothing too racy or revealing. I can't imagine they would be flagged? I think it's the content that is confusing as to how it bypasses copyright. Adding his voice for 20 seconds and some basic transitions just doesn't seem feasible...

Maybe he is part of an MCN - that way they have so much more power with disputes and leverage with content creators. It might be their adsense account connected so it will still show as monetized. Just a speculation though.

One thing I also noticed was the description of the video. A few points:

  1. He lists pretty much every element of the video i.e. the subscribe button, the music etc. It's strange as he uses motion array which is licensed and doesn't need to be noted? That could have something to do with it.
  2. He credits the channel he uses the content from - that seems strange.
  3. He lists all his videos as 'creative commons' yet, it's not his content lol. I checked the original videos - they are definitely not creative commons.
  4. He put's a disclaimer in the description - "A wide variety of clips are used under the Creative Commons license. All videos on this channel is created under Fair Use and is considered transformative in nature. If you have any questions, then please contact us through the proper channels."
  5. He put's a large disclaimer in his about section on the channel. I have seen this on many channels explaining their editing process and covering themselves. I have seen this advised in the past because if someone from YT checks the channel for any violations/standard review, it kind of works in the favour of the channel. Not sure if it really has much benefit, but always worth doing.
@ninjacookies - my advice is to just go for it. Try it, test it, work it out! You don't have anything to lose, well, maybe some time. But it's worth a shot and copying the method the channel uses. If you have a tester channel, it might be worth making a like for like video with a similar thumbnail and seeing how it does.

Best of luck if you give it a go. Let us know how you get on!

Did you not notice his latest videos have bombed, I suspect he's being penalised for reuse so I why even bother with it?

I don't think it has bombed too hard. Looking back over his last few months, He has stayed consistent with views. Remember, it's not just about his latest views, he will have videos from months and years before still performing well in the algorithm.

Looking at socialbalde, the channel get's around 2-3 million views a month. That could earn around $10,000 if the videos stay monetized and the CPM averages around $4. I highly doubt it earns that amount, but still, I think it would earn a decent income for the channel to keep going. All this being said, this guy most likely has some tricks up his sleeve that we don't know about.

Interesting, that makes sense, yes.

EXACTLY the type of person and reply I was looking for! You seem like you're well versed in youtube, so you understand how this whole situation perplexes me.

I never pondered the MCN angle...though I'd imagine MCN's aren't too fond of partnering with channels that use blackhat strategies and steal content without adhering to youtube's formal policies?

Just for giggles, I emailed one of the larger chiro's that he's been stealing from, and they replied saying thanks for pointing it out. I can only assume this means that he was not aware nor gave explicit permission for this guy to be stealing his videos. But I doubt anything will happen.

I'm curious if channel age/authority (subscriber count and engagement) influences youtube in their potential decision making when it comes to handing down punishments. I mean, in a perfect world, everything would be judged on a fair scale, but that's not always how things work.

And great point regarding his long winded, overly technical descriptions. It's basically like an alibi conjured up by a completely guilty criminal in an interrogation room trying to come up with every micro detail in a jumbled story to fabricate his innocence. I mean, this guy explains everything down to the thumbnail sources. So I may try that method as well.

Thanks again!

I have been keeping a keen eye on these types of channels for a long time...I think the hardest part is getting the channels off the ground. One bit of information I came across from research into other channels is that they get community guideline strikes quite often due to the thumbnails. I found one channel tweet YT about it as they had received their third strike and were worried they were going to get suspended. I really scoured their accounts to find that out :D But it goes to show, even if you can make some success similar to what these channels do, you will have other things to worry about as well. A lot of risk with no true long-term security.

I have started channels that are new and old - I really don't think there is a huge benefit. One thing I did find was that the older account still got the adsense payment regardless of being removed from the partner programme. So I think there are minimal benefits of an aged account - but nothing to do with views etc.

In regards to emailing the chiro channels - not the greatest thing to do. I would have personally left it out of respect to the guy's hustle. Kind of an underground rule for us online entrepreneurs. But by the by.

Quick tip - email the channels you want to mimic and see if they respond. I have done this a few times and been surprised to get a response with some decent advice. Pretend you are a non-competitive channel looking for guidance.
