Cease and desist from Facebook

I received a cease and desist from Facebook today for providing a Instagram automation tool which barely has a few dozen users while I can see my competitors are doing business while at first place on Google without anything.

What do I do? I’m from India.

Thank you bro. It’s just really sad to see these heartless people go after small fishes and let’s big fishes work as usual without any issues. I mean there are thousands of Instagram automation tools with thousands of users and they go after someone who barely has a hundred.

Don't lose heart bro. Maybe the "big fishes" have also received such notices from FB, but they have the resources and the legal teeth to fight it and just don't care? Maybe they received it too when they were a "small fish", but they didn't let it derail their business, and they went on with restructuring their operation and making it invincible. Not a possibility? I think you should be happy that you received this notice when you're still a small fish.

The shocking part is making a tool that violates FB/IG ToS (a company that's well known for chasing anyone that messes with them) and be surprised when they start messing with you.

I did not make it really, I’m just using someone else’s script. And there’s nothing wrong trying to make money.

FB operates 3 offices in India and I'm pretty sure they have a separate legal department. If they want they can easily pursue the OP.

Had the same experience just a couple of weeks ago. Used the word "Insta" and just a couple of days later suddenly received this cease and desist notice.

Most "big tools" are either "officially" based in countries where the laws are skewed against Facebook, thereby making these tools virtually untouchable. Or if it gets too lucrative, are hidden behind layers of offshore corporations.

When things are not under litigation, it becomes a backhanded battle with Facebook going after IPs and footprints consistently, leading to infrequent downtimes. And the tool operators switching gears and coming back up.

As for your location in India, please be extremely aware that they absolutely WILL come after you.

And they're not "heartless" in the sense they're coming after a small player and are letting others run because they're "scared of their lawyers". They go after everything and everyone that threatens to harm their business model or knowingly breaks their ToS or aids in the process of doing that.

Often times the location of these companies make it an issue. And they hedge their bets to consider if enforcing a full blown litigation is worth their time and resources.

If you live in a remote village in India, I think you should ignore this as they would not take any further action, but I’m not expert here, It would be wise to let some smart members chime in on here and listen to them.

Can't you look up something to do with Facebook API? provide a service or create a product with the help of that, if you are really interested in working with FB, and you don't want any legal hassle?

I understand that but one of the sites has very good ranking on Google and if I close that, I’d be effectively out of business. I worked countless nights to build this business, I need to do something to protect it but not sure what.
