Hey man I'm going through the same journey I really would love to talk to you before purchasing my offshore vps I have a big question to ask I know this is a super old thread, but you seem to be the only one competent who posted about a movie streaming site. I'm doing a live streaming sports site with really decent idea on how to get traffic but its through referral and direct. I do have some SEO experience that I applied to an ecommerce store and I used to work for a ecommerce store, I'd love to talk dude.

I start my journey two months ago with dooplay.
I have roughly 10000+ movies and tv series.
I get ~10 clicks from google without any SEO.
currently, the difficult point for me is to drive more traffic to the site.
now I try to make the content more "unique" rather than copied from imdb.
not sure if there is any other way workable in 2019

Unfortunately, I stopped my video sites a few weeks ago.
rapidvideo, streamongo and openload shutdown their services because of dcma a few weeks ago. But videospider still works. And you could find other platforms from videospider.
Here are the reasons for shutting down the site.
the most important point: monetizing. I could only monetize it with exoclick, popads and some other cpa network.
I have about 1k ip per day before shutdown. But the income is pretty low comparing with other niche site.
the other point is traffic. Video streaming is competitive in SEO.
Hence I could only drive traffic by auto posting Facebook groups and other social networks. And accounts got banned.
I also buy traffic via other platforms such as outbrain and popads. But it could not cover the cost.
If you have strength in above, I think you could still give it a shoot.
