Creating your own sms gateway?

I want to generate my own us phone numbers for free .
Is it possible to set up a smtp server of some sort and create numbers?

Here are the ways you can do it,

1. Become an MVNO(virtual network operator), it will cost starting from 3-4k for setup but then you can access 'the source' or clean, real and good numbers that can be used not only for sending but receiving PVA as well.

2. Buy sims online or from local stores in bulk, you can get good deals sometimes. And then use hardware like this:

It will cost you a few k for starting setup as well.

3. rent numbers from services like twilio, it will cost a lot to send tho, there are some vendors that give you unlimited sending access but you have to rent the number itself for $0.20/monthly but has no to very high limits of sending, so they are a good option if you have volume to process.

4. create an app like simcash.io and market it on money-hungry forums and subreddits. this is probably the easiest and cheapest way to do so, I guess.
