Why are we using wordpress again?

Been here for quite some time now... I joined BHW when i didnt even know what hosting or domain means.

I learned a lot despite this forum not being so noob friendly. hehe

I seemed to go with the flow with what everyone seems to be doing here. hosting, domain, cpanel, wordpress...

Why do we revolve around using wordpress only again? :D

WordPress is user-friendly and makes it easy for even newbs to get a site online, pair that with the fact it is easy to tweak and optimize, and it is no wonder why it is a mainstream platform.
 
I personally only use WP for simple websites that don't need a lot of maintenance. Basic things like a blog/cryptocurrency project.

For e-commerce I prefer Shopify.

I have a few custom coded ones that I hired someone to make :)
However, they are annoying & costly to maintain and update.
Also, despite the disadvantages Wordpress does present, it is still the most convenient & friendly out of all the known platforms currently.
 
when I first started out, WordPress wasn't the bloated land whale it is today. It was pretty decent and revolutionary in terms of CMS' on the market. Its big competitor at the time i think was drupal, which was more complicating and didn't have as much support or plugins.

Fast forward today, WordPress is pretty bad (unless you're using headless or some of the tweaked versions). But for the most part, bloated land whale. But it is still easy to use and has a wide variety of options in the way of plugins that if you wanted to do on a custom script you would need to code out. It's just easier in all respects including the wallet and your valuable time. So I still use it most of the time.

Is it the best you can use now? No probably not. But it's convenient. And with a bit of skill you can speed it up quiet a bit.

Fair enough. If it's a no-code solution that someone is after, wp should be enough (with some caching plugin perhaps).
 
As a webmaster, I build websites for a living. 99% of my sites are built with WordPress.
Why? Because it's easy to use and it has good looking themes and templates that I can easily customize.
No reason to build a site from scratch when I can just edit a few things here and there.
I know HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP and MySQL, but I never code unless I need a custom feature not available with plugins.
Most of my clients don't know what a CMS is, so it' doesn't matter how I build their sites. They probably think I code everything from scratch.
Yes, it's bloated and it has a lot of unnecessary code and features, but it's the end result that matters.
 
Have not come across a cms that is as customizeable, well known and easy to create as Wordpress. If I need something changed on my website I can do it very quickly with Wordpress, from changing functions to simple CSS.
Wordpress has a crazy high market share of websites that use a CMS, so if there is an issue/vulnerability it probably is already solved before you encounter it.
And all the available themes and plugins that allow you to very quickly implement anything you want on your website, love to @Festinger for making these available for cheaper.
 
Because of the plugin ecosystem. The other CMS's don't have a plugin for everything.

because people are sheep, and whatever someone's doing everyone else must copy. But not everyone is using Wordpress, there are SEOs and affiliate marketers who use other CMS, so it's up to you to choose whether you want to be sheep or shepherd (I'm sheep :p)

EDIT: on a more serious note, because WP is SEO-friendly (it's fast and clean) and safe in general. And the millions of plugins are something that other CMS don't have because they are not as popular as WP
