Howdy y'all, I'm looking to build a series of posts called How For Free, I would like to start of with the topic of keyword research we all know that when it comes to keyword research I think our to go is Ahref's tool which is a pretty amazing tool in my opnion I perosnally use it, but In this post I'm looking for free alternative's to help a good chunk of people that can't afford Ahref's and wants to start blogging so If you have any resource or multiple resources you combine to do your own keyword research drop em down, Thanks in advance!

You don't want to do keyword research with free tools believe me. You will not only get false positive results but you will waste a lot of time.
But if you got lot of time in hand want to try 10 different things and ready to fail multiple times then go for it.

I kinda agree with you, but in some people case they can't afford the ahref's subscription what can they do?

Really, you don't have to subscribe to Ahrefs to be successful in SEO. Especially, if you just started and still learning. Don't tie yourself up to just one particular tool. This is how they make money.

What about google keyword planner? it's free, it's reliable and comes from google.

Google planner is from Google but it's for ads. It doesn't really show you organic search queries. If you truly refuse to spend even a penny, go with the alphabet soup method, use "people also ask section" The results will be much more accurate.

The problem with most people doing keyword research is they focus on the keyword too much.

The idea is as long as they have the keyword mentioned in certain places on their content and website, this would be enough for Google to give them a high ranking.

It doesn't work like that anymore.

It used to work several years back, but not today.

This is because Google has adopted artificial intelligence, and it is way smarter than when it started.

Do you know what works when it comes to keyword research? Focus on topics and themes.

Many people have a problem with this because it's like taking a shot in the dark.

You don't know which topic or theme gets a lot of traffic, and everybody's looking for traffic.

But what if I told you that the better approach would be to gain domain authority first, and then you'd be able to rank for higher-traffic, more competitive keywords.

That's how it works.

So focus first on finding your competitors and looking for topics they talk about and see if you can develop a better approach.

While keyword research is still included in this, you shouldn't obsess only about keywords.

Focus instead on search intent.

Why are people using those keywords instead of others? What are they looking for? What is their psychology? What is the outcome they desire?

Deliver on those, and you will increase your domain authority, and this makes your job easier as far as more competitive keywords go.

You can use google keyword planner and research keyword with it. It’s very helpful for beginner.
