Full ID Verification Process for Marketplace Sellers

Privacy is more important factor nowadays, but most of the internet companies ask for ID verification at some point of time. The worse part is, even tho you have highest security system in place, highest privacy policy, biggest giant internet company, you'll end up with scammers who will scam with fake ID's and video ID verification ,even tho if you do this as live verification. Scammers gonna scam they'll find a way.

Escrow is the only way to keep both buyers and sellers safe, until satisfied.

I respect my and all other netizen's privacy.

Why not both?
Not everyone is going to accept the id verification process. The reasons are: they want to stay anonymous, they can not trust you and give you their ids, and many more reasons. Are you asking why? Well, we are simply selling/buying the things that you only find in a black market. As not a seller from bhw, I do not think it is a good idea.

Anyway, with or without id, I will be here.

a lot of the low-level, scammy BSTs that get opened
BHW already does have an efficient sales thread moderation process. If in your opinion, any sales thread is "low level" and / or "scammy", have you reported it along with your observations ?
for all marketplace sellers to be fully ID verified
Well, in that case, why not the same for ALL members, so that sellers can also be protected from buyers who scam sellers (I've not been scammed, but I've seen cases).

I've sold 5k+ products on BHW and I haven't ever been scammed by a buyer. That's not the issue.

There are a few shitlists where it was concluded that the buyer was trying to scam the seller, though it is a bit rare, but it is happening, right ? (NOTE : I've not been scammed, but I'm taking the overall scenario).

I appreciate you playing devil's advocate.

Generally speaking though, no institution requires buyer verification for items. You don't need an ID to purchase things from Walmart or Amazon (unless it's a restricted item), but if you sell on Amazon & Walmart you likely will need to go through several layers of verification steps.

I think it's probably not a bad idea for high ticket items ($1k+) to have buyer verification steps on BHW, but that should be up to the seller. If the buyer refuses, then don't sell to that buyer.

Whenever I work with someone on BHW; and I anticipate us earning money together (JV, Virtual Assistants, etc), I always require an ID. I've never done anything with it, but transparency with who you are working with is generally a good idea.

Doesn't BHW alraedy know who they're dealing with based on the Jr. VIP membership?

Not saying it's a bad method. But it's hard when I can literally pay someone to do full Kyc for me , even a video.

Not saying that it's a bad idea but better to introduce an escrow bot than to enable ID verification for marketplace threads. A lot of people prefer anonymity(including me), so an escrow bot would be better as there is no chance of getting scammed while using escrow.

ID verification is very easy to bypass and it will not help a lot to keep the scammers out. Scammers can easily get ID verification done. Plus a lot of people prefer anonymity.

And do what with the ID if shit happens? Who is going to sue people? I think it's not even 100% legal to ask for people's ID's. Again, I have no idea how and if it's possible, but don't have anything against it, it would be nice and will add a layer of protection for the buyer.

And you should add like the minimum amount of money that has been scammed for, before you send ID's to the scammed one.
There is even more steps that you should add for the scammed one that he needs to meet in order to receive ID's, at the end of the day, those are ID's not some funny stuff.

Some of these arguments have merit. (Not all, some.)

Let us consider scammers as belonging to one of these three categories:

1. Unintentional scammer: Person doesn't pay or refund because life happened. It is technically scamming, but he didn't intend to do that.
2. Opportunistic scammer: He starts as a normal seller or buyer, but scams because it seems so easy. Lure of easy money.
3. Scheming scammer: Intends to scam from the very start. Has an elaborate plan involving shilling and establishing authority.

If you implement id, it will make it much more difficult for the opportunistic scammer to scam.

It will not stop the unintentional scammer because in most cases, they are forced to do so because of circumstances. They don't care whether someone has their id or not.

It will not stop the scheming scammer because he will just add $150 to his scamming project.

That being said, any measure to reduce scamming is welcome.

I am sure the mods & staff will consider the pros and cons, as well as build a foolproof process, before implementing this.

Doesn't BHW alraedy know who they're dealing with based on the Jr. VIP membership?

Not necessarily. They have billing information but that can be done through LLCs, fake names, etc. There's no real verification (I'm assuming) on that end as it's mostly processed through PayPal or Chargebee.

This is just delusional. Most sellers would leave the forum if this was implemented, as you can see from the responses you've gotten so far.
Forget seller me as a buyer would leave this forum because anonymity is what makes me come here,am a Mom with two children and in no way I am giving my identity to even the staff here.OP thinks negative SEO is new and his competitors can’t do that. The day identity verification is added you will see this forum going down in activity overtime.

It's been 90% yellow members who have found issues with this. Most Jr. VIP have been open to it or said it was a good idea. But go on.

It is funny - I posted a reply before this, and now when I check it, I see that I only quoted blue members who had raised some points. I didn't do that intentionally, or as a reply to your post (because I posted it before you made this post).

It is a discussion. Most people want to reduce scamming. Raising concerns or flaws will help to roll out a solid process. So, welcome them. :)

yep lets just dox everyone, because IGking needs to find out who is being mean to him :P

thats ridiculous... do you also keep them secure and follow data protection standards if you keep such data? anyways you might be so anal about it, but some people like privacy in this business, that doesn't make them scammers. besides as already mentioned by others, a scammer can easily fake all the KYC requirements. you can hire people to do video chats with fake id's, anyone can send you a fake id and you have no way to make sure its real unless its a lame fake. so this wouldnt stop anyone who wants to scam you, it would just make it annoying for people who value their privacy and this is a normal right for anyone.

He didn’t open this thread because of scamming I guess he opened because someone doxed him so he got furious maybe.Maybe OP looks scared and is helpless so he tried to save himself via this thread.

How would it help with Sarkar's threads? That's only going to ruin the privacy here.

Just to make it clear: I didn't make my posts to insult you or @IGKing (or anyone, for that matter). Let us have a healthy discussion, folks.

Privacy is what makes BHW the best forum of all and this is why I joined here so that I can talk with freedom and no one doxing or coming behind me.

I don’t have any bad intentions if I be a buyer or seller but privacy is atlast privacy and it’s a right not a compulsion,ID Verification here is a nice killer step for BHW to dig their own grave in terms of their revenue and the forum activity.

It's been 90% yellow members who have found issues with this.
Don’t be too sure about that. Some of us non yellows are just holding back for a more official thread to vote against this.

This isn’t a reflection of my intents or my affinity for this forum. I’ll still be around but I probably wouldn’t sell anymore. Hard pass on handing over my IDs.

Not true at all, read reuse's post.

Heck, I literally paid for Jr. VIP a few hours ago to start a BST in the coming future and my opinion remains unchanged.
