Full ID Verification Process for Marketplace Sellers

Let's just think it through for a second. What ID systems would you like in place that are non bypassable for scammers? Without yeet'ing every vendor's privacy out of the window. "Some apps already have features like this. Upload a 30 second video of you stating your name, your service, and country of origin" along with an upload of a government issued ID." What kind of blackhat apps are you on? I get the fact that you're in your feelings and stuff but do you actually think that one's PERSONAL information should be disclosed if one makes a threat? I'd like you to elaborate on your vision for a "scam free" marketplace. You don't seem to be writing from an objective perspective.Otherwise you would've suggested an escrow or deposit system. @IGKing at the end of the day it's just internet.

Stay safe,

SWAPSEASON

Vendor's shouldn't have complete anonymity / complete privacy. I made that point clear already.

Most legitimate crypto apps require picture / government ID uploads. If you ever submit an online application to a financial institution or casting call for a production company, they also require similar verification.

Don't suggest I'm "in my feelings" or I'm not taking an objective approach for wanting sellers to be verified. That's silly.

Here's how this could be implemented, by the way:

- Run the normal BST approval process
- If the thread gets approved, the seller needs to have a 90 second video call with the mod before being able to approve the BST.
- The seller shows an ID during the call and uploads a picture of it to a temporary 24-hour database.
- If approved by the mod, the seller pays the $30 listing fee and their BST can go live.

It's really not that invasive. I'd argue that if people truly had an issue with this, they're the kinds of people likely to scam (or simply not care about the legitimacy of the marketplace) or benefit from a system that doesn't care about authenticity. If you want anonymity for sellers, you're insane. There's no benefits for seller anonymity for the buyer. All vendors should be verified if you truly wanted a better, more secure marketplace.

Hey,

For the upgraded marketplace that is getting rolled out soon, I think it should be standard procedure for all marketplace sellers to be fully ID verified before listing products for sale.

While payment and invoice billing can give some level of verification to the BHW staff, I think there should be a full-on ID process that can't be bypassed. I'm not saying that this information should be made public, but having this extra measure will definitely increase the legitimacy of the marketplace. I think this will remove a lot of the low-level, scammy BSTs that get opened. This improves the marketplace for buyers & sellers alike.

Some apps already have features like this. "Upload a 30 second video of you stating your name, your service, and country of origin" along with an upload of a government issued ID.

Complete anonymity shouldn't be a feature for marketplace sellers. BHW staff should know exactly who the seller is in case things get out of hand. In the past 24 hours, a marketplace seller on BHW (who has now been suspended) has threatened to dox me, "ruin" my business, send me fake reviews, burn my house down, destroy my reputation, and so on (all because I called them out for ripping off my brand's logo).

Just a thought. I think it would improve things.
If you want to show your face on the internet and dox youself, good for you buddy, but don't force everyone to show an ID when selling something, I can sell stuff on regular marketplaces (both digital&psychical goods) without an ID but seems ironic for BLACKHAT
world to require full-info verification

On the otherhand, escrow seems a good solution

That would never work,Why? So easy to bypass. And escrow systems? Would you have escrow for each and every seller here who sells a $ product or a $$$$ product? Doesn’t make sense for small sellers at all.
As @SWAPSEASON said you took things personally lol,Never mind you choose to show yourself up,mess with anonymous people and come here posting ID Verification hehe

It's not even about my profile picture or my information. I don't care if people know my name, etc.

It's about sellers who decide to scam others because they feel like they have an anonymous presence online. That should concern you. When sellers threaten to write negative reviews and do negative SEO on other BHW members and other BST sellers, that should concern you.

We've seen people's credentials leaked before on other platforms. Also for those who do black hat business, sharing their info may not be comfortable. Let alone being risky. I agree that the marketplace should be trusted by both the seller and the buyer. Maybe some kind of trust-building system based on the business, not the owner can be implemented. Thus, protecting the anonymity of both parties.

Any KYC stuff would of course be encrypted and the CTO here has a background that is well past impressive to make sure all is safe.

Exactly, Not all people would want to show their faces or identities and this is what makes forums special than fiverr or upwork. It’s ridiculous to see when people like these come and ask for verification over a Blackhat forum lmao.
If I were to sell here I would never share my identity or would simply not sell as I believe there’s shit list already in place and an escrow system would work but only for high end services lol or else people selling $ based services would go crazy dang

You see fb data of 500M got hacked and leaked? And BHW has stronger encryption I don’t think so lol
If BHW decides to do this they will see a steep reduce in their revenue and people leaving from here because there’s no difference than fiverr and BHW.

I took things personally? Because I wasn't comfortable with another BST seller threatening to do negative SEO on my business? So me taking things personally was asking for more seller accountability?

Give me a break, dude. I've been beyond chill considering someone was threatening to burn my house down lol.

And do what with the ID if shit happens? Who is going to sue people? I think it's not even 100% legal to ask for people's ID's. Again, I have no idea how and if it's possible, but don't have anything against it, it would be nice and will add a layer of protection for the buyer.

And you should add like the minimum amount of money that has been scammed for, before you send ID's to the scammed one.
There is even more steps that you should add for the scammed one that he needs to meet in order to receive ID's, at the end of the day, those are ID's not some funny stuff.

You are comparing BHW to FB and fiverr?

Compare the security people to some real stuff.

What I mean is if FB being a B $ company cannot keep their ass covered so how can BHW think of keeping things safe? No way this is happening no matter what.

Maybe FB is not all that secure.

In fact I'd bet money they are not.

It’s simple you don’t mess with people when your identity is connected with your business and you choose to reveal it to all.Having a settlement would be better for you as any of your competitors could even ruin your business don’t you think so? This case looks different but what would you do if it was your competitor?

I think that's an issue for another day.

I think the fact that the marketplace would require an ID would weed out a lot of the scammers in the first place. I mean, look at all the people in this thread who refuse to share their ID. I wouldn't want to work with any of these people, and if verification measures get added in the marketplace, I fortunately will never have to.

So BHW is more safe than FB well okay this is a joke.As you being a mod I don’t wanna talk rude but your points make no sense as FB is on another level and BHW is nowhere near to that.Yes BHW is a much better place for sure but no comparison tbh

Remind me never to work with you. That's a horrible response. Yikes.
