Honestly, I don't know since I never sell backlink. I'm PBN builder and maintenance for my client per project basis. I'm using several tools to build tier 2-3-4 for my PBN, using auto link building and manually link building.
So yeah auto backlink can be cheap since it was faster to build thousand link a day, manually link building takes time and more human resource and costly. The quality is not too different, it depend on your SEO strategy and technically how to setup a proper content and other stuff.
I do manual backlink for certain site that not available on auto link tools "site list", and need a special care and methods, sometimes specific request to follow competitor backlink profile, where manually link building is a must.
Mid cost go for manually link building, and the high cost and powerful backlink comes from : paid post to big boy sites, and PBN, and.....Paid Ads?...Paid Traffic? you guess. You got what you paid buddy.

same domains are being used to create millions of links everyday by thousands of people, sellers etc. It is not difficult to guess what will be the end result of such link building.

They might appear pretty in ahrefs, moz building authority(DR, UR, DA PA) etc but for google i don't think they do any good.
