Is Xenforo worth it in 2021?

There are tons of forum solutions out there, but it's tough to make a choice. When it comes to blogging, WordPress is the obvious choice. I want a similar forum solution that is easy and powerful.

I've tried Discourse, but it's really hard to manage. You can ask their community for the smallest of the doubts if you are not a developer.

I came across Xenforo, and it looks great to me. I just want to know if it's worth it in 2021? Like phpBB is almost obsolete. I want to know if that's the same case with Xenforo as well.

I know BHW is built using Xenforo, so please no jokes about my ironic question :p BHW is an established community and I am thinking of starting a gaming forum in 2021. Is Xenforo worth it in my case?

What I want is that the forum software should be stable, must have good support or community forum, and should be easy to set up and customize.

I am not a professional web dev, but I've been using WordPress from the last 8 years, so I know how stuff works.

If you need more details from my side for better suggestions, then let me know.

Edit: Why a forum when everything is on Reddit nowadays?
 
In case of gaming forum, you will be using a lot of clips sharing I suppose?
I don't know much about forums but I just visited myBB and it's interface is somewhat similar to wordpress also it is free and open source you can give it a shot.

Yup, me2. I used XenForo for MANY projects, compared to vBulletin, MyBB and other boards: this is the best option.
The start of XF2 was dramatic, but that was 2-3 years ago. Now, they offer a very stable forum software.
 
Xenforo is enterprise forum solution and is feature rich. If you do really care for the forum data for longer years then you must use something good that are being supported well.
As it is paid it should not be neglected. Probably it has migration of posts functionality so you can move to another forum software that are being supported / paid.
 
Been playing with a forum software this past week. As much as I like Xenforo, it's nice to find something different, but with very similar functionality.

Xenforo is my top choice for forum.

NodeBB is another great forum if you want free option.
 
Yes, it is worth it ! take the demo for a test drive and work it out .. you will do it more quickly..

Imo I think traditional forums are sooo much superior but each to their own.

I hate how Reddit tries to destroy us small web owners.
 
XenForo is the most suitable one.
