It feels very lonely in this world....

The goal of being happy makes people unhappy because it inevitably becomes a clearly empty endeavour at some point.

People think they want to be happy, what they really want is to have their life mean something and to be significant, even if that's just being an amazing mother/father, or whether that's colonising Mars.

Fundamental happiness comes from realising a significant life, not from finding ways to "be happy".

That's not what I want. I couldn't care less about significant life, as long as I enjoy every day, I'm happy. And I am happy, because I do things I enjoy all day every day.

Happiness isn't binary. If your happy on more days than your not happy, then overall your happy.

Finding ways to be happy day to day is how to achieve happiness overall. By "finding ways to be happy" I mean find things you enjoy, and incorporate as many of them into your day to day life as possible.

Eating fast food is the only thing that gives me pleasure in life. Apart from that my life seems very empty. I don't see any purpose in anything that i do.

Honestly I would advise not to get stuck in this hole. Dont get dependant on something that isnt healthy for you. What worked for me to get myself out of a rut is to start exercising just do any kind of phyiscal movement you can. Gets the natural shit going to make you feel better.

What i personally find in life that is joyful is making other people happy, maybe give back to your community and slowly go from there.

I am a very introverted person because I have different likings and ways of thinking. I find it very difficult to mix with normal people.

For the last few years, i have been working on my digital marketing skills and currently, i am making upward of $40,000/month(you can see my journey threads). Two years back when i didn't have any money, i thought making money wud make me happy.

But now that i make this much money, i don't know why am i making money. Every week, the money keeps coming in my bank account and i don't know why am i making it, it just keeps accumulating(each week).
I haven't bought anything(for myself) in the last 2 years. It's been 2 years since i bought any clothes or any material things and don't have the urge to buy anything either.

I don't have any reason to get up in the morning as making more and more money isn't making me any happier.

It feels very lonely in this world as there is no one i could talk to about my digital marketing business and anything i am interested in(as less than 0.01% of people have been through this journey or wud understand it). And it's difficult to meet/find anyone who does.

My college friends are busy chasing 9 to 5 jobs, so, they could get settled in life. I cannot discuss business or motivation with them nor are they interested.

I thought traveling wud make me feel happier but it didn't.

I don't feel like getting out of the house.

Eating fast food is the only thing that gives me pleasure in life. Apart from that my life seems very empty. I don't see any purpose in anything that i do.

Has anyone been through these feelings? Knows any cure to it?
Im trying to figure it out myself. Very hard to meet new people if you don't know anyone.

I feel you dogs, I'm in a very similar situation. It's hard out here for a pimp hehe.

Seems like you are abusing your body not saying don't eat fast food but always have anything in moderation else too much load on Kidney

No probs bro, I wasn't talking about you specifically at all. You might get a lot of satisfaction from comfort and hedonism.

My point was just that people often mistake their desire for relevance and a deep sense of significance with wanting to be "happy", and therefore they perpetually chase things that make the happy in the short term, instead of understanding the root cause of their feeling of dissatisfaction with life.

I mean it's a spectrum isn't it - there's always going to be people that sacrifice all typically pleasure-seeking activities in favour of pursuing deeper goals (someone like Nikola Tesla who remained a virgin his entire life and worked non-stop on the problem spaces he was exploring) and you'll always have people who completely prioritise things that make them feel good and things that don't make them feel bad, and then people in between these two.

It's not a mistake to chase one thing or the other, but people do often make the mistake of thinking that the thing that's eluding them is "happiness", when in reality doing precisely the opposite to that (tough things that are challenging and are not pleasurable) would actually give them a deep and complete sense of what they would call "happiness", while simply finding an ongoing stream of fun, enjoyable, easy things to do leaves them feeling empty once the temporary distraction they're currently engaged with subsides.

I don't believe you'll find accurate answers to what's happening to you in a BHW lounge thread.
You should find professional psychological help to diagnose your particular problem.

I feel somewhat the same. With regards to business, hustles etc. I don’t have any friend to talk to. Actually it’s demotivating to talk to them things like that. I was trying to show them what’s possible and encourage them but it never works. They are always acting hopeless and don’t know what to do to the point that they are just expecting me to layout everything. They are not willing to do the hardwork and give it a shot. And I don’t want to be dragged or demotivated. So internet became my refuge. I became active in reddit, Facebook groups and starting here where i can feel somehow i am surrounded by like-minded people. I still get lonely but on the bright side, now i am more focused on learning new skills. I am the kind who likes to go out, likes traveling. Never imagined before that i can stay home for days but now i stay even there’s no lockdown in here. There are times I work in coffee shops or go
to mall.

If your loneliness is because you want to search meaning in your life, if I have that amount of money, I will hire people who are starting out in online freelancing, help local brick and mortar stores or donate to charity. Also connect with your parents and other relatives. Ask how they are and share stories. They might not understand what you do but they can be always supportive.

I think you are getting matured :)
In previous you had target, which is make enough money. you worked for it all the day. you were much busy with that dream.
after you achieved it, you are unable to find new one, that's why you feel empty & pointless.

everything in life like that, if you need lambo, but after achieved it might feel the same,
after bang with most beautiful girl in the world, might same feeling.
so, what I think is we all need to find hope/target one after one.

Try listening or reading anything from Naval Ravikant. Should help.

I agree, hedonism and comfort do give me a lot of satisfaction, whenever I do have a bad day, I think "What is life like for a starving African, or a coal miner in the olden days, or a slave" and then I realise how great and beautiful my life is in comparison to the majority many had to go through in history.

I get extreme satisfaction from knowing I'm lucky enough to be born in a good country, where I can do as I please, and have the funds to do it.

That can literally change my mood from unhappy, to extremely happy.

So I think that mindset has a massive part to play in happiness, taking things for granted is typically the root cause of unhappiness in my opinion. Aftercall, no one is happy because they get to breathe oxygen, but force them underwater for a few minutes, and bring them back up, they will appreciate every second of breathing, and they'll be happy they can breathe oxygen.

In my opinion it's how you see everything. And the OP is seeing money as a route to happiness, rather than a prevention to unhappiness. OP never has to worry about homelessness, food or warmth. And that's a glorious thing to have that he should be extremely happy about.

If we stole the OP's where he became homeless, had no food, or warmth, he would become extremely sad, and then if we gave him the money back, he would be extremely happy.

It's clear to me that the OP takes money for granted from the statement that he keeps seeing money rolling in and doesn't spend it. OP needs to change his mindset and see why that money is so great, and why he is lucky to have it. Because right now, he's focusing on not knowing what to buy, rather than the fact he is secure and stable.

You need to change the company you keep and if you keep none, find positive company to keep.

Birds of a feather flock together. Their positivity will rub off on you. Ultimately though, you must get to the point where positivity is generated from within you

Mindset is certainly the most important factor in 99% of situations.

OP can't be blamed for feeling like this, everything is a process of learning. Like he said, he had a perspective that money would make him feel happy. Now he has it in abundance and it doesn't. This is just a part of the learning process - 3 years from now he'll look back and will be in a much better position with regards to his perspective.

Agreed,

It's not his fault.

What OP needs is a reality check on what life is like for the majority.

It's like vegans, they ate meat, until they saw the reality. That reality was powerful enough to stop them eating meat. And that's why meat companies hide the slaughter from the public, because it's a real eye opener.

Nothing changed in reality, except their mindset on how they perceived meat. Rather than it just being food, they saw that it was a real animal that was killed painfully.

OP needs to see that rather than his money just being numbers on paper, it's actually an item that keeps him away from the major struggles of life. And if he ever loses that item, he will endure the pain that others endure.

Everyone's goal should be to have money to keep them away from the pain, not to guide them to happiness. Because if they focus on the latter, they will be hugely disappointed when the money arrives.

I'd advise the OP to volunteer at a homeless shelter, and spend some time with the homeless. It will be a life lesson he shall never forget, and prevent him from taking his money for granted.

All I can say is that you have to get out there and do things. Do things that you like doing - but things that involve other people. If you are into SEO, go to some SEO conferences (IRL or online or whatever). Or maybe mix it up a little bit and do something that you have always dreamed of doing. Or pick something random. Or think of your biggest fear and do something that tackles that.

Just from my own experiences, I would say the above could help a lot, but you have to literally push yourself out of the plane to take that first step and get yourself on a journey of self-discovery or self-improvement. Remember the world is full of people like you if you can't find them then its some piece of information that you just don't understand yet, about yourself.

Your story resonates with me in that I am also a very introverted person by nature - like sometimes I can barely have a conversation with someone without breaking out into a cold sweat and I could happily stay in a room on my own for a month, no issues whatsoever. But for me, the big change in my life was learning martial arts - I just wanted to change the path that I was on in life, and I randomly saw this poster for Kungfu in the local chip shop (no joke) and I forced myself to make contact with this club even though it was EXTREMELY alien to me, having never done any sport in my entire life.

I turned up for a taster session at this place and I so nearly turned back because I was getting nervous. But instead, I forced myself to go in and try something new.

Fast forward 6 years and I realise that it completely changed me as a person. I am still introverted but not nearly as much as I was. And where I was scared to even hit a pad when I started, I am now doing kungfu, kickboxing, sport karate competitions and so on without any issues at all. It has also improved my confidence as well as my business, my happiness and my overall outlook on life.

I'm not saying the answer is to take up martial art. But the answer is just to put yourself out there, conquer your fears and just explore the world without being closed-minded because however much you think you know about the world its such a tiny insignificant amount compared to what's out there and the same goes for people - every single person in the entire world is unique - don't forget that and don't ever think that you can categorize yourself and group together with others as being different and that you won't fit in with anyone else out there because there's always someone in the world that you will gel with when you least expect it.
