Parler CEO Goes Into HIDING

i just dont see parler going away, they no they have a section
of the market twatter cant control , free speech
I hope so but the technical requirements they have may be hard to find a replacement for Amazon for their hosting. You'd think that AWS couldn't be the only option for them though.

I want to build a decentralized social media "platform" network badly.. same as Bitcoin, runs autonomously on thousands of servers globally using a good set of heuristics to moderate autonomously with that set being able to evolve based on logic instead of the control of a single person or small group.

The problem is storing that much data on a blockchain is not possible by any stretch of the imagination currently. The data stored in each block on the Bitcoin blockchain had to be designed to be relatively small to make that possible.

But fuck this, seriously. Someone needs to put the boot into the tech monopoly - at some point the growth of decentralized information sharing is inevitable, like it was with decentralized value creation and transfer.

These mf's are more powerful than the President of the world's most powerful country, they're unelected, clearly have no problem at all with censorship, and have openly engaged in the manipulation of the way people think on a massive scale.

Think what you want about the people that used Parler, but the ease with which they could get rid of this platform and send the CEO into hiding should ring major alarm bells for anyone that has even a shred of intelligence and the ability to think critically.

The crazy part here is the hosting. Takedown a website just because some guys told it was full of hate while you can see daily young people on Reddit, Instagram, and Facebook being threatened, abuse, destroy from these same social media who talk everywhere about "keeping" the platform sane with no violence. I cannot count how many Reddit videos from the BLM situation had 100K+ upvotes where people showed how they destroyed their neighbor's business happily... many accounts banned because they wanted to show how stupid it was.
The big ones want people to stay stupid and make them think how they want them to think.... and it works perfectly lol

You could just use your own datacenters rather than reinvent the wheel.

Parler will like fold up - there's too many things stacked against them.

They're building their brand on free speech, but it's inevitable that will be abused for illegal stuff like cp & criminal activities.

At that point, they'll have the FBI and other international police on them - and if they delete that content, the free speech part of their platform will be untrue and their audience will dissolve.

Everyone also knowns the feds are watching Parler, so they're likely to be scared away from using it.

AWS is known for vendor-lockin. I'm guessing parlor used all the AWS specific techs (dynamodb, aurora, elasticache). It is fucking impossible to migrate. That's how AWS keeps its customers locked-in.

I fucking love aws. What AWS did was wrong. I don't give a fuck about parlor (or free speech in america :p). But after this incident, I'm more careful about what kind of aws-tech I use to build stuff.

Cassandra instead of Dynamodb
Manual auth instead of Cognito
Mysql instead of aurora
Redis instead of elasticache
.. this list goes on....

Yeah the sad thing is that when it's the other way around, people mobilise and boycott businesses that do they kinds of things Amazon and social media has done to Parler. When the shit flows in this direction - silence. I'm guessing most of the people that support Parler still have Fb accounts and most people that support Drumpft still have Twitter accounts.

It's probably mostly to do with social media and the mainstream media inciting responses to certain things (on one side) and criticising those who respond to the other side. Also they can easily make certain stories, movements and hashtags trend, while suppressing others.

One black drug addict gets killed by police (as wrong as it was) and 20 cities burn for weeks. The account of the President of America is banned from all social media and simultaneously the ability to congregate on the next best thing is also shut down, no one has done a fucking thing.

I'd like to see riots in Silicon Valley and people smashing up the social media headquarters in response to it. Will there be? Nope. One side is prepared to take action, the other side has spent decades getting comfortable and soft. Pretty weak imo. If this happened in 1946, the execs of most of the tech companies would probably be lynched or lined up and shot at dawn.

Sadly, the influence of the strong men that fought in wars has all but faded now, and what's left is selfies, cancelling and micro-aggressions.

You could just use your own datacenters rather than reinvent the wheel.
Yep, datacenters at that level aren't cheap, but I'm sure if they tried to raise capital for building one and sought funding they would get 10X what they're after.

They could even run a kickstarter and would easily get tens of millions I would guess after all this bullshit. I'd personally send them a decent amount of cash, like I did for Kyle Rittenhouse's court case, and I'm sure a shitton of other people would too.

They were seeing millions of downloads a day before they got fisted - if every one of those people donated $1 they would have the datacenter they need.

Yeah it's the m.o. of all the big tech companies - build something so good that people really want to have it, but they lock them in.

I've never used AWS for anything, although considered it a few times. After this, I'd prefer to build a wix site than put anything on AWS.

Stuff like this appears on others platforms but will be removed if reported or found.

lol the problem is free speech. Not sure if you will ever get it... Also you can say this about the other side on almost any site so your augment was doomed from the start.

No, I have seen worst on Reddit, Twitter, and Facebook.
Yesterday on TikTok: A girl was telling how it will be good for the earth's population if a country with a big population like India was wipe-out. The video has 100k+ views and comments that approve her words. Nothing happens.

It's ridiculous from both sides.

On a platform like BHW, where you should be aware of shady tactics, it's supring to see how naive some people are.
Just last year there was a big campaign in a city near where I live for Instagram to take more responsibility after a girl commited suicide after constantly being harrassed and bullied on IG, despite the issues being reported to IG it still carried on.
People who now regurgitate that Parler allows worse stuff than other platforms have no idea whats happening on other platforms or are completely brain washed.

The tape covering his mouth translates to "Forbidden to speak" and the caption at the bottom to "Only one man of the 2 billion people living on Earth may not speak in Germany!"

I am not sure Hitler was censored, and if so not that well as he managed to kill millions of people and is still championed today on black hat internet marketing forums (despite the blanket ban on politics) as some kind of brave patriot victim of a clampdown on free speech, while his technique the big lie is now the most successful manipulation tool in history.

Do you have any other examples beyond the world's most famous mass murderer of those who were censored?

Kinda my point. His whole shtick for a long time was he was being unfairly censored.... its a political ploy to drum up support.
