Is Unlimited Webhosting Just a Gimmick ?

Am using one shared hosting server for experimental sites.
What they offered was unlimited space and domains.

Later I was unable to add new domains to it and the reason was, my Inodes limit got reached, which is 40000.

If hosting companies limits Inodes, how can we use unlimited disk space and unlimited domains ?

Is it Normal ?

there is no such thing as unlimited webhosting or traffic, its just a sales trick. read the fine print(s) there is always a limit.

They're 100% gimmicks in my opinion. There's always one part of the resources allocated to you that isn't unlimited. You always end up using it up.

Yes, they scam you with "unlimited" everything but inodes limit is the catch. Stay away from threeforonehosting.com it is a big scam. ALWAYS ask about inodes limit. Good webhosts like SG give 600,000 inodes. Some never respond when you ask what inodes limit is.

I run into this problem at least weekly

they do fix it for me, quite promptly too, but, it just shows, there is really a soft cap at the least.
I probably get axed once i hit the 1tb tho lolz

That is totally a marketing gimmick. Unlimited space for 3-5$ per month for shared hosting. Did you asked if your hosting provider are providing VPS, Why there is no unlimited Disk space.

Captain here. There isn't something like unlimited hosting if you look it that way.
Every hosting account has certain limits and it's just a way it is.

What they advertised is that they don't limit you on file size you can upload to your hosting account but rather than inode limit which is normal.
The fact that you hit inode limit while adding more domains is also normal since adding domain creates at least 1x folder at account root folder which is 1 inode taken there already.

Our entire existence is driven by scarcity, there is no such thing as unlimited. There is abundance, but that still has a limit too. There is no such thing as unlimited, check out Runcloud or Cloudways.

While I'm using cloudways at the moment, I'm going to migrate to runcloud due to pricing in cloudways is expensive if you want to upgrade the VPS.

Drive on internet is Huge but limited, it's mean how capable we fill buble on bathtub? they will 'warning' you if you able to made it too much
