Hi,
We are bit puzzled with Facebook ads, specially regarding how to set up the CONVERSION EVENT.
We have new pixel, start from zero. We start campaign, objective is CONVERSIONS, we want to SELL. Quite simple. We shoot cold audiences.
Ads set :
- one country, females age 32-54
- 2 interests (lingerie + online shopping)
- excluded interests Aliexpress, Taobao, Ebay, Amazon
- show on newsfeed only
- optimized for conversion, conversion window 7days after click.
We run 6 ads. We keep 3 winners.
1 - Day 1-3 : we begin ads campaigns but got zero purchase after throwing 25$ and around 120 visits. Ads set CONVERSION EVENT PIXEL was : 'Purchase'. One customer only registered and initiate checkout. No more. We made some few optimisations and only keep ads winners.
2 - Day 3-5: because some say we need conversion to 'help' the engine learn, we change the CONVERSION EVENT to 'add to cart'. Increased budget. Another 25$ and 150visits. Around 40 add to cart, but NO registration, NO initiate checkout, NO add payment info, NO purchase >>> really looks like facebook sends low quality traffic that just add to cart and nothing else. Now we have around 65 add to cart events (in 2 days) but no one buy nor initiate checkout.
Actually we have around 300 visits from facebook and NO ONE purchase (which is not normal), nor Initiate checkout, not add payment info.... Seems we just pay to have few 'add to cart' and that's it, customers sent by FB seem to be like people FB KNOWS never buy. We are really confused about the ad set CONVERSION EVENT GOAL , cause OF COURSE Facebook knows very well which customers are buying and which customer don't buy. We tend to beleieve that 'seasoning pixel' is a non-sense as Facebook has all datas about customers and knows well which customers buy and which customers never buy....
Our CTR is around 10% per Ad which i believe is quite decent. Our prices are quite aligned with concurrence and the website is super clean. The fact is that people just add to basket, and never initiate checkout if we set CONVERSION EVEN to 'add to cart'.
Should we get back to the conversion even 'purchase' even if there is no conversion at all, but at least, FB will track people who are likely to purchase, instead of throwing out 'fake' customers that will just add t cart then leave ?
Thanks
Try pay per landing page views. Also, are you 100% sure your check out page actually works?Hi,

Do you know how to cloaking FB or Google ads for casino niche ?
Yes we use videos cause we know CTR is much better with it. The problem we have, basically is that there is plenty of add to cart events without any 'add payment info' or 'initiate checkout' this is quite puzzling....I not expert on FB ad, Google ad, I does do a bit drop shop beside adsense + affliate abit
I never use ad but test before how it feel like , is kinda tricky in the end I never use. I noticed those ad using video does will grab some attention ,
does your fb ad is video ?
...Why ?... If we pay for zero conversions (meaning : sells) with add to cart, why should we try to landing page views ? Would it be cheaper ? What should we do then ? After a while, create lookalike audience with conversion event down the funnel ?........... Please precise your thinking cause i don't see where it goes...Try pay per landing page views. Also, are you 100% sure your check out page actually works?
I do noticed if you got FB page , and add products, it work like this straight to cart if I not mistaken? if visitor click...Why ?... For the checkout page yes it works well, and as said before, what is really weird is that there is pleny of add to cart events, but NOT even one 'inititate checkout' or 'add payment info' that follows, that's super weird, sounds like facebook just drives audience that they know they will add to cart, but nothing else........................
No I start brand new stores and offers all the time using Conversion.
And no, same idea. Though I'd recommend doing shoutouts if you have a limited budget and not a ton of money to put into ads.
I can say from my own experience that during the elections, it is always difficult to work with advertising, we have a pause in our team now, because there are only losses during the elections. On your experience, facebook ads always get harder on election times?
