As you all know, automation does not work anymore and doing it even with a gap between a lot of time makes the algorithm action block your insta account. There are several factors that makes Instagram block your account, some of them being:

• The user-agent used to access your account.
• From phone or from computer? If so, what device and computer? Are they different?
• Hmm...the IP's seem different so does the location.
• Wait! This account is literally automating stuff, let me action-block it for almost 7 days.

Issue with Instagram is that, you use a specific device that you use to access Instagram daily and Instagram trusts that device more than other ones. Forget about web automation, they are more strict with web automation than phone.

I have also noticed that they put separate action blocks for web and separate for phone. Meaning if Instagram in web has been action-blocked, then through phone you can still post, follow, like and comment. One thing I have noticed in phone is that the device I always use my Instagram account with, rarely hits any limits while doing it manually. I have followed almost 50-100 people within 5-10 minutes and unfollowed 20-30 within a time-span of 2-3 minutes and all of this was done manually.

Some automation tools here connect to the Instagram API as well, so that's another issue that might also be action blocking our Instagram accounts, the main point here is to emulate real user actions, via app itself and not using any API. So if anybody here successfully emulates such actions inside the app itself, you may be able to make some $$$ for a-while until Instagram brings out another great update.


Also, the more slow you follow or do any actions, the changes are higher that you will get action-blocked so it's recommended to do it maybe fast and not too slow nor not too fast. After all, Instagram does not really look at the time gap, rather it has several important factors to look at.

I build a bot in Selenium (I'm a software engineer) and have been getting the last minute items together before I start for good. When I was developing/testing the bot, I used an account I created on my personal phone, on my home IP. During testing, I usually had it connected through my Nord VPN (random, heavily used IPs) as I didn't really care about the account cause I was just testing with it. Almost every single time I have logged into it, I get an email telling me I have logged in using an unrecognized device. I even manually went through on my phone and answered "this was me" on all of the alerts yet the emails still come.
The selenium bot is using a custom chrome profile and it's able to load cookies/session information every time it starts up. I also modified the webdriver to prevent Instagram from detecting outright that it's a Selenium bot. I also use a custom user agent string for Instagram so I can get the mobile view on the web browser (for image uploading). I've had the account for about 2 months now and got about 55 emails from Instagram relating to the login problem. I haven't been banned although I did get some temporary action blocks at one point. (I think I logged in on a bunch of different IPs within an hour). I've always run it very conservatively where I would do 10 follows per hour. After about 30 actual follow sessions over the course of two weeks (i've logged in plenty of more times while debugging), I'm following about 238 with 90 followers. Based on the stats, it can be very promising if I start running it 10 time a day (100 follows)
So, TL;DR, I'm sure it will get worse as I increase rates, but using tons of different IPs and user agents over 2 months with very conservative follows, I've only had 1 action block but I am not banned whatsoever.
