Home goods niched down to a specific type. So, like, instead of bedding I was quilts (just an example).

Site is 50% info, 50% money pages. Got crushed by the update and some new sites in my niche that are written in poor English with mainly money pages are page 1. Even pushed a competitor of mine who writes legit great content (and has been around forever) onto page 2-3.

My observation has been these thin sites have hundreds of pages, writing 2000 words for long tail keywords/questions when a simple paragraph would do, and they have a bunch of sketchy backlinks.

Lol, my site started tanking two days before the update after steadily climbing. Now it's literally like... gone from Google and nothing new has been indexed since the first week in December. =*(

I've pushed new posts on social media and have had people come to the page and read and even share, but still nothing.

I don't want to hear their BS about making good content, either, because a couple of the sites that rose to the top of the SERPs are not even readable.

Also, how is it a good user experience to rank a 2,000-word article for something that can be answered in 200? I'd be pissed if I clicked on that shit organically and had to either go back or scroll through the first 1500 words of crap with ads slowing my goddamn computer down the whole time.

What ever Google Says it is actually a big lie. Overall their intent is to force small websites to go for ads. Still, there are some gurus who mastered into manipulating organic results, such as the blog of Neil Patel in which literally no one reads his rant.

this Dec update is most fucked up thing Google rolled so far
expired spammer domains are all over the SERPs while legit sites that used to be on page 1 for years are on position 30 - 90

I have the same problem, they write 1 2k-4k word article and then manually spin it to make 200 copies.
The first paragraph answers the question and the rest of the spun content there is just for the search engines.

Checked three kws they were at 3, 12, and 15. Now 1.

Anyhow, I gotta just stop bitching and start doing better.

My sisters site tanked the last update, she flat out quit and cried after working on it for 4 years. I told her to not give up but she didn’t care. She checked this last update and her site is Getting more traffic now then before the update that tanked her. Almost double. She regrets not continuing after that last update. Could of been doing much better.

In one my niche now there are poor quality blackhat sites on the top, Google books, Google Play apps, 5 fat ads on the top and fucking Pinterest everywhere.

Don't know what improvement you are seeing now, but all my sites are not good. Stable keywords drop every day.

Only natural backlinks. For this site I haven't bought any links yet. In fact, I've been only focusing mostly on onpage SEO. Also the site does not have many backlinks yet. The traffic is also pretty low around 2k per month.

For some of them it's going better now, some of them get a little hit I think. It might be just about content quality. I will wait 1 more week to determine anything yet.
