Think it's a great idea. Gardeners spend fortunes on their gardens.

Rather than dropshipping you could go to your local garden centre and separate packets of seeds.

Loads of options for upsell aswell. Good luck with it.

Sorry been packing all day (again).

Thanks but honestly its early days I am not getting away.

With regards to images it depends on the quiz. Sometimes I use places like unsplash and pixabay for good related images.

I have also used the image as a way of posting the question and just use Canva for that.

Finally and this is a bit more grey area I will take a still of the production remove the background add a new background and text and use that. Have I changed it enough to avoid copyright issues? I don't know.

I never directly copy the questions but certainly take a lot of inspiration from them.

With regards to video I will when I get time test an idea I have but at the moment I show a video clip and then ask questions about it.

I look for footage hosted by companies with the right to have them so tbs youtube channel I would take a friends video like this one

Then ask observation questions. What was next to the bowl, what colour shirt was Ross's tie. Who did chandler kiss last etc how Rose's will ross send etc etc.

Got an idea for something else is I can find the right software.

I will post proof on here rather than sending to everyone. I use woocommerce with cartflows and wp quiz pro installed.

A few other plugins as well.

I don't run ads but looking at it.

Well that depends on how you look at it.

2 marketing degrees, 20 years experience in sales and marketing and several months of planning this site.

In terms of profit after the extra unexpected costs my profit is closer to 60k.

Still getting a few sales in which is honestly a pain in the arse at the moment. But that's just one of the pains at the moment. I am jumping through hoops with paypal to get the money, stripe have been okay and have used up my credit line with the courier but as a new customer despite having cash they wont up the limit so I am currently maxing out paying maxing out and paying.

All extra frustrating delays that i could without.

Once these have all shipped I going to rest from promoting quizzes and try and get the backend sorted.

I also need to write things down as a lot of this process is in my head.

In better news I have had some lovely messages from people who are doing this as well and have seen sales already.

Hi everyone thank you for taking the time to read my thread. I have a long background in sales and marketing and have decided to apply this knowledge to creating income through a Quiz site.

To start with a big thank you to everyone who has done journey and method threads on this I have enjoyed reading through. I will take some of what's already been said and add my own spin to it.

The Aim

I have a theory that Quiz sites are leaving $$$$ on the table by chasing after advertising money. I understand why I think with some tweaking we can increase revenue and the LTV of a visitor. The aim of this journey is to see if I am correct.


The Plan

Create 3-5 quizzes every day and post them to my newly bought domain name. The domain name is brandable rather than exact match or specific.

Once I reach 50 quizzes I will go live and start promoting the website.

After this I will continue to create new quizzes and seek out audiences.

Quiz Sourcing

To start with I will be doing this myself using a series of google searches. I will collated the questions and answers and put then together into themes quizzes. Eventually I will look at outsourcing.

Action So Far

So far I have bought a domain name with the intention of having a branded site. It's a two word domain that I bought having looked at the names of direct and indirect competitors. It conveys the right message and image.

I have tried several quiz plugins out and have settled on the one which I think best suits my needs.

A simple theme which is fast loading has been placed on the site and I have designed a logo with Canva.

I have joined a number of groups on facebook and reddit linked to my subject matters and have started to warm them up.

That's an interesting question and I may be too early in my journey to have really good hindsight or insight.

I guess the big thing to know is you are combining two different business models and need to be aware of the pitfalls of both.

At a push I might even say you aren't in the quiz business but are in dropshipping or ecommerce. That brings about different challenges.

This last couple of weeks have been a nightmare and haven't enabled me to continue with new quizzes.

I definitely scaled to big too soon.

However it's been a wonderful opportunity to learn and i will sit down and collect my thoughts next week when the last of these parcels go.

How my dropshipping store gets sales from my quiz site.

I have four ways of getting sales to my drop shipping store thanks to these free quizzes

Landing Page.

The landing page shows the price I sell the prize for on my charm store. This is to help with the perceived value of the prize but surprisingly gets a few clicks.

Abandoned Cart

The abandoned cart sequence finishes with a Hail Mary here is a voucher for my store

I use retargeting for people who didn’t complete the prize offer.

Post Sale

In the post sale follow up email sequence I offer discounts and vouchers for activities like social media posts.

So I have thankfully got rid of the last of those bloody prizes and now gearing up for the next couple of days.

I am running some end of year quizzes without prizes to get more people connected to my quiz site. Instead they have the opportunity to win a “Fan on the year award”

As I have used Friends before in this thread I will keep with the same illustration here.

I have adapated the mother and child instragram method for this promotion and have Instagram pages set up for fans of friends and each of the six main actors. The. It’s just f/uf to grow the pages

On the pages I do a mix of questions and trivia each one branded with the quiz site. Occasionally I cross promote as people are likely to be fans of each character.

the questions and trivia are just from may earlier research.

for each post use a hashtag checker to make sure I use appropriate one to try and grow the quiz.

Over the last couple of days I have been hyping the end of year quiz with a couple of instagram stories and posts.

The end of year quiz won’t go live until NYE and will run for 48hrs. Be interested to see how this experiment works out.

Edit: Also, instead of dropshipping, can i use Alibaba to buy wholesale ,and send the items to a warehouse that handles all of the shipping process?

Yes you canand that’s essentially what I do except for I made the mistake of sorting fulfilment myself. They are companies that will do this for you.

the big benefit is you can brand and include marketing materials this way.

What is the way you drive traffic to your website? If i saw correctly its only facebook groups?
Do you actively post in these groups before sending your link or post it straight away?
Or can i just pay the admins like $10 for them to post a link for me.

It’s mainly Facebook groups at the moment (and one secret traffic source) I have recently started with Instagram and YouTube and will explore Twitter in the new year.

I have done a little paid ads but not enough to comment on it. I also include referrals and retargeting.

regarding Facebook I have two strategies. I run my own groups and post in other ones.

i try and contribute by liking, commenting and posting images that are both trivia and questions. Each one watermarked.

everything has a purpose so for example if I am in a friends group I would post “what other comedies do you like?”

That’s engagement and market research. I haven’t tried paying for a post not sure how that would go down.

One reason I try and build relationships in the groups is that I intent to remilk the cash cow.
