Hi everyone thank you for taking the time to read my thread. I have a long background in sales and marketing and have decided to apply this knowledge to creating income through a Quiz site.

To start with a big thank you to everyone who has done journey and method threads on this I have enjoyed reading through. I will take some of what's already been said and add my own spin to it.

The Aim

I have a theory that Quiz sites are leaving $$$$ on the table by chasing after advertising money. I understand why I think with some tweaking we can increase revenue and the LTV of a visitor. The aim of this journey is to see if I am correct.

The Plan

Create 3-5 quizzes every day and post them to my newly bought domain name. The domain name is brandable rather than exact match or specific.

Once I reach 50 quizzes I will go live and start promoting the website.

After this I will continue to create new quizzes and seek out audiences.

Quiz Sourcing

To start with I will be doing this myself using a series of google searches. I will collated the questions and answers and put then together into themes quizzes. Eventually I will look at outsourcing.

Traffic Sources

Social Media - Facebook and Reddit
YouTube Quiz Videos

Returns

Action So Far

So far I have bought a domain name with the intention of having a branded site. It's a two word domain that I bought having looked at the names of direct and indirect competitors. It conveys the right message and image.

I have tried several quiz plugins out and have settled on the one which I think best suits my needs.

A simple theme which is fast loading has been placed on the site and I have designed a logo with Canva.

I have joined a number of groups on facebook and reddit linked to my subject matters and have started to warm them up.

Est Sweat Equity: 3 hours a day

Long Term Goal

See if my unusual income ideas are right.

Please fee free to ask any questions or give advice. I will be as honest as I can but wont give away my revenue ideas just yet.

Interesting journey, good luck, all the best.

I'll follow up, have similair idea on my mind, waiting for some cash to hop in.
I would encourage you to start now.

Decide on the theme for your questions
You could even get all the questions ready.

So far all its cost me is a domain and hosting.

How I curate questions.

Because you can't copyright a question the majority of the questions I am getting is from google searches.

I search terms like

"Name" quiz
"Name" trivia
"Name" quiz round ideas
"Name" quiz round.

I then put them all in a spreadsheet. For TV shows I I categories them under:

  • General
  • Main Cast
  • Minor Cast
  • Special episodes
  • Special guests

The plug in allows me to put one question in several quizzes at once.

I don't steal whole quizzes as I have my own ideas on presentation.

It's not that labour intensive and a nice low cost business to start.

Today's task:

  • Five quizzes to complete, test and upload.
  • Interact in relevant groups
  • Write emails for follow up sequences

Good luck mate! I've been looking for quiz journeys to follow as I am planning to start/continue mine : )

Managed to get 7 quizzes done today. Really pleased. Surprised at how easy it is to get these done also actually enjoying doing some of the quizzes on the other sites and have noted a few features I may look at.

If I do the same amount of work tomorrow I will be ready to soft launch this weekend.

For the soft launch I am going to invite friends and family to the site to play a few quizzes.

Not expecting any earning but I want to make sure the site is working and see if there is any pattern where people drop out. I already have heat maps and analytics set up.

I know it won't be a true reflection but should be interesting and hopefully highlight any issues.

Excited and just want to get on with it.

Reading up on some dark arts tonight that I may implement into the page design.

Total Spend: £10
Earnings: n/a

What will you be doing differently?

Can I start by saying thank you for your threads you were one of them that I read.

I am doing a multiple variable test on revenue streams i have a few in mind and will see how they work.

One is with affiliate links and two are different business models altogether that I will be experimenting with.

I will record the progress here of each.

@se900se went to dm you but I dont have access yet.

Good luck with the journey!
Seems like a nice long term journey, definitely following:D

Ok having thought about it I will share an idea after all I have taken from this community.

Quiz and Trivia Book

Having collated the quiz questions on a TV show say Friends I will divide them up into categories as previously mentioned.

These categories will also become chapters in a Friends Quiz and Trivia book which I will self publish on Amazon Kindle and Createspace.

On completion of the quiz they will be offered the opportunity to buy the book.

The thought process is that if they enjoy the quiz they might want more and as a ven diagram I have people in my pipeline who like Friends and quizzes.

The Kindle books will also serve as advertising for the site from people who shop on Amazon so hopefully a win win.

Would this work with other books?

I have no idea, don't know if it will work for me.

Hypothetically I could see it working depending on your book.

If you were doing a book in say the Vikings then a quiz about Vikings may work.

I think you would need a hook for the quiz rather than just "look here is a quiz".

Some of quizzes I will be doing have a theme along the lines of "so you think you know".

That might work. So you think you know the Vikings.

As I say i don't know if it works at all.

Good luck mate! I've been looking for quiz journeys to follow as I am planning to start/continue mine : )

If you don't mind me asking what made you stop?

I'll be following your thread, mate. I've been thinking about starting something new, but I'm caught between Scylla and Charybdis on this. A quiz site or a niche blog.

That's a great idea, I hope you'll succeed!
I also have a newly created quiz website with a little twist. I wish it will work. :)

I've been thinking of making one myself a year ago but gave up the idea. Goodluck will definitely follow this.
