When looking at my browser history, I realized that I write a lot in public forums, even lengthy articles that I could monetize on my own blog.
Yet the topic is mental health.
If I put this on my blog and put ads or other ways to create income, I would expose myself, because for legal reasons I have to write who I am, including my address(I haven't tested not doing that, though, to see if there actually is a punishment).
Here and on other forums, I can write anonymously, create new accounts to not show a pattern in my writing, to disguise my true origin etc.
But on my blog, if I revealed something about me, an anonymous crowd would know that about me. If I wrote about well searched topics, even more would come.
Which is a quandary, I want people to come, I want them to buy(maybe even an ebook) but I don't want them to know who I am.
Yes, mental health is a huge topic.
People search for it a lot.
You could write a blog about depression for ages, so many new requests come up.
And you would attract all kinds of people suffering - not the kind of people you want around.
Would you create a blog about sensitive topics?

In general sensitive topics can be difficult to monetize. Something you should keep in mind. In fact I would not go for this stuff unless you are an expert in this topic.

You can create a blog about any topic, and mental health like any other subject has a crowd of bloggers, I am sure.

Regarding hiding your identity, if this is a concern, then just create a fake persona and keep on posting under that persona, so that ultimately google thinks it is a real person (and you can build trust and authority this way).

Mental health issues are quite good to discuss and you will surely gather readership. Why do you consider it to be sensitive. And even if it is, why do you bother. If your posts are informative and tend to help the discerning reader, your purpose is fulfilled. Bravo! Continue and shine.
So far as hiding your true identity, it’s absolutely up to you. If you want that way, it’s absolutely fine.

Hi, I think sensitive topics will not get monitization.

If you are an expert on that topic or have the talent to write about mental health issues, then you should do it. Monetisation comes later but if your blog reaches a certain level of acceptance among visitors then there is always monetisation opportunity.

It is about writing under your real name about it, not whether monetization works in that niche or not.

I think that it depends on the topic, e.g. there is a huge difference between writing about burnout and writing about schizophrenia. I personally wouldn't touch serious illnesses without a degree and proper experience.

If that is the case, then you should write under your legal name and get each post vetted by a mental health physician, that gives legal authority to your content. If you cannot do this then it's not worth it.
