[Journey] Building an iOS & Android App Empire

how would you monetize your apps? and what budget do you plan to spend on your empire?)

I am currently occupied with exactly the same challenge. My app has a very great and interesting idea, but the keyword does not exist or has at least few search queries. I have to market my brand myself. What ideas do you have for this?

Currently I use for advertising:

  1. google ads
  2. youtube -> created my own videos but I hardly ever call them up :/
  3. facebook different groups

The main goal would be:
- Brand awareness
- Ranking for broad keywords

What I mean with broad keywords:
"game", "dating", "funny", "tracker", etc. all those keywords. Problem is: There is a lot of competition.
There I would start with ranking for long tail keywords "Most funny cat videos" and so on. After getting downloads you will start to rank for the broad keywords.

Brand awareness is just about getting your name out there.

Good examples are Spotify, Uber, Whatsapp, LINE and all the other brands.

So I would always name the app like "Spotify - Unlimited Music Streaming" or "Whatsapp - Instant Messenger", etc. first and after enough brand awareness or better to say when your app is already fame I would just cut the "- Instant Messenger" or "- Unlimited Music Streaming" and only use the brand name.

In fact, this is exactly what I am trying to do at the moment with my new iOS app. Lets see how this will work out.

Exciting journey for sure!

What tool do you use for keyword research?

Good luck!

Ahrefs and Ubersuggest

Why haven't i seen this thread earlier? Amazing journey so far - Best of luck to you and definitely one of the few journeys i am actually gonna follow.

Definetly following this one!
How much is the cost to publish one app for one year?

You can publish as many apps on your Apple or Google developer account as you want.
Google developer account is $25 one time fee
Apple Developer account is $99 per year

Update:

I finished the iOS app and now I have to decide whether I am uploading it all in English or if I am adding new languages to the app. Since there is a lot of content it would take some time to translate it all. Still thinking.

I also finished a 3rd Android app, which I am going to upload today. Yesterday I spend a lot of time writing descriptions and making screenshots.

Interesting journey, Do you use admob for ios apps as well? Any better alternatives?

Yes, for iOS as well.

I only found Facebook Audience Network (FAN) to be a decent alternative. eCPM is lower there tho.

How do you manage multiple accounts on appstore? Using different people or different legal entities?

I have just one. I am making sure everything goes with their policies.

the last time i made appstore account, it was only allowing legal name or using a legal entity. I think it is easier to make money within their policies as they little more affluent users. Keep updating your journey, eager to learn more. All the best :)

Update:

Uploaded two Android apps yesterday. The third one is also ready for upload, but for the safety of my account I didn't upload all three of them in the same day.

About the iOS app, which got in-app purchases:

I wanted to translate it into different languages, but because the code and the content is a bit complex it would take a lot of time to figure out how it is done correctly. I just spend 2 hours trying different ways, but it didn't seem to work properly. I will investigate this today. It is the first time I am actually translating one single app into different languages.

So now I am thinking if I should upload the english version of the app first and launch it in english speaking countries or if I should spend a few days (or who knows how long it is going to take) and upload the full international version with different languages.

How likely is it that these apps are gonna take off? If you know that these apps are gonna be a hit, then the early translation can definitely help you. But if you are not too sure if the app will be a success it would be a waste of time to translate it into several different languages, because you could always do that later.

Yes, you are definitely right. I am thinking the same way and thats why I am working on writing the product description, screenshots, etc. now. Hopefully, I can upload the app by today.

Couldn't you upload the English version first, then later upload the international version to replace it?

i am wondering how you made $5k on your ads? What is your ecpm on ads? How many downloads you have? What type of apps?

Based on your experience
• accounts do get suspended on both stores but Google Play higher chance of suspension with no support from them.
• the solution is to buy multiple accounts at the same time or at different times in both stores.
I saw on YouTube if you buy multiple play store accounts with same information and even open on same up address google will suspend your play store accounts
