Content isn't KING for Google anymore

For me, content is just one part of onpage SEO, nothing else.

SEO is just so complex and there are so many factors coming into play.

Biggest ranking factor these days is the authority of your domain. You could use duplicate or spun content on a high authority site and still rank. On the other hand: You could writer killer content with 10k words and don't rank at all if you are using a new domain. Everyone who is doing SEO these days knows it

Content has never been king for google. Content is king applies to the user only; for the user good content always beats everything else.

But for Google, ranking indicators are king and if you can manipulate those you’ll always come up above those who can’t. Regardless of content quality.
Torally agree. But 99% of us refuse to believe this.

SEO is very complex, and like many have said, content is one piece of the puzzle.

I've seen some amazingly written pieces rank/gain traction organically..

MONEY is king and it always will be!

Its all about google alghorithm. Google doesnt give a fuck how much engaging content you have. I suggest you to read Tom's @splishsplash homepage seo guide. Huge details there.

Well, to clear this up, some time ago(8 months or so), I've tried something weird. We all know WpBeginner(probably). If not, well, it's a WordPress-related website.

I've made a website based on their content, literally word by word, image by image. That took me near to page 3 for around 30 articles. When I got it, I started to optimize my content only for the readers, not caring what Google says.

Trust me, and you want people to understand, not Google. ;)

Interesting stuff as I sometimes do a lot of Blackhat and Greyhat SEO myself.
I know someone mentioned GSA Links (Which I know can be used to manipulate Moz's DA though not used by Google) and PBNs, Redirects and Copied content, but is it possible that other techniques such as irrelevant content, Meta Stuffing, Keyword Stuffing, Hidden Text, Ultra Indexing , Link Pyramids, Churn and Burn, Link For Link, User Generated SPAM as content, and Link Farms and Directories may still work or now work once again? I mean, if Google is willing to neglect what they consider to be a big part and what once was and still is a big part of the ranking factor, why would they go into any work to stop all other or most Black Hat Techniques.

I know content farms can be valuable, how hard do you reckon it would be much easier to just copy someone else and much a bunch of money with script which just gets all the content from the web (I have seen this before on a site ranking very well in Chinese not ever properly scarped, but forgot the name).

Content isn't KING for Google anymore
SEO depends on many factors, and Content is one of the factors, you can't just leave it with high-quality content only, but you also need any other factors, that's how SEO works. :)

Content is for users, on page seo is for Google, and the latter plays almost no role in high authority websites

Never understood this metaphor. Sounds like a typical selling hook.
Content itself is just a ranking object.

Why so many people are complaining about that. What exactly changed?
Content quality never was the main ranking factor. That's general is a very subjective assessment.
People for decades are rewriting the same articles but using like 3000 words instead of 800 and think that they are making high-quality content.
Because Copyscape and other plagiarism tools tell you that's unique?

Interesting topic here.

Content is merely part of SEO.

Putting out frequent, relevant and adequate content is the KING of putting out content. Not just content.

SEO is one big bs.. its like a lottery, but many people not realize yet. You can get the best links, best content and still you will drop one day. Google gives you traffic for some time so you see the quality and your business depends on it. Then suddenly it takes all traffic from you, so you must convert to adwords. So, adwords is king.

Content is for people.
and your target is Google algorithm so yeah it won't match.
A long term site is not managing ranking on SEO. but to have A high value, and keep updated, with some interaction with your traffic.so people always get back to your site for the experience.
(can be information, fun, money or other experience)
meaning you don't need google at all. that is a long term site, otherwise you are at google mercy.

Content is King only on easy keywords. When other factors that affect rankings, especially backlinks and age are significant for a particular keyword, content is more like a clown.

Reading ppl disregard content makes me frustrated as it goes against what I'm seeing.

For starters, the way I see it, adult sites' SEO is inherently different from family-friendly sites' SEO. So there's that. Then there's the family-friendly sites' content itself... Has any one of you seen one without any content? Sounds dumb, but such a site doesn't really exist (if any1's seen one, do share, I insist!). So dumbfoundedly true it makes you think it must be a fallacy of some sort. There are simply a lot of nuances.

What do people mean by "content" anyway? A singular post ("optimized") for 1 keyword one found using a keyword research tool? oof...

What about the fact that you can't even find what you are looking for 1/2 the time. I did a search yesterday. The first three listings were paid. Then I had these pull-downs that were asking questions and when you click on them they pull you off what you are looking for (are these paid for)? and half the time they don't even match the subject you entered. Finally, you get to what you were searching for. Three entries and then more ads.

I don't care about unique content anymore. I made a bot which gets image urls from reddit and posts pics on my porn wp blog. I don't even lose bandwith because images are hotlinked from reddit. I change titles for long tail keywords and create 1000 posts per day. I hope to get big organic traffic from google in next months. Even if one post will be searched in google 1 time per month, when i have 30k posts i will get 30k organic traffic/month
Can you share this bot with us?
