How is your defense system for your money-maker set up?

No, no not that money-maker. I'm talking about your computer.

I would like to get a consensus of what cookie/registry cleaner, spyware/malware/virus software combinations you have set up on your machine.

Let me know, any links would be helpful too.

Of course, I hope this helps others as well who may take computer security lightly.

I go with kaspersky normally but if your pirating then you need to get new keys weekly. Mine just ran out and i got fedup because i just got eset nod32 and its a lot easier to pirate. i have used them both extensively and they are both great

For Antivirus I'll go with nod32..
So far so good for me..
For worm and trojan remover I'll go with Loaris trojan remover..
My PC still clean till now..

AV's are only good for known malware. You won't even know if you have a bot
on your computer unless you're running a process viewer and a tcp/ip viewer
and then you need to know what processes do what on your pc.
Nod32 and kaspersky will keep most amateur stuff at bay because they have
heuristics.
And firewalls are just as easy to bypass.
I run my system sandboxed, with tcpview by sysinternals and allseeingeye by fortego
security which gives me, Process Tracker
DLL Tracker
Driver Tracker
Event Log Tracker
Autostart Guard
Service/Driver Guard
ActiveX Object Guard
Browser Helper Object (BHO) Guard
Winsock Layered Security Provider (LSP) Guard
Hosts File Guard
File System Guard
and Registry Guard
That gives me the option to run or stop processes as I see fit
and not the software.
I also use ccleaner and run powerful cookies every now and then.

Really, the best protection against viruses is prevention.

Just don't do shady shit on the internet and do not download torrents; purchase the software and support the makers.

You will be safe if you only visit a few trusted websites and noscript on FF.

The only scary thing about malware is keyloggers. If your PP or bank account gets keylogged, you're fucked.

So all in all, what you really need is a good anti-keylogger. I use keyscrambler, which pretty much scrambles your keys so that no keylogger can detect your keystrokes.

And most malware that you get is known malware, so I run nod32, malwarebytes, and spywaredoctor.

I admit that nod32 sucks ass, and I would switch to kaspersky but I"m too lazy.

if u want a really strong protection use kaspersky internet security 2010 + For Antispyware use Spyware Doctor (No.1 Antispyware ever) and second best Malwarebytes (Antispyware).

For lite protection of-course not very lite go for Avast professional edition. If u go for Avast Home edition (U ll get 1 yr key for free from there official website avast.com)

How would you know if it hasn't detected anything?
Infections are not only used to steal your data they are used for spam
and phishing proxies, Ddoss attacks, adsense clicking, ppi and you may not even notice them if
you have a powerful enough system.
Anyone with the notion can buy a crypter/packer/binder that will make
even the most public of malware FUD.
It will become detected after a while due to the generics of the malware
but all the attacker has to do is keep ahead by updating his infection with
a new crypted stub.
Don't let the AV companies fool you.
Take VirusTotal for instance, it's only good for scantime it's totally hopeless
for a runtime infection.
And It is practically impossible to have an anti virus discussion without
breaking the forum rules on hack talk.
I know the side I came from was alot darker than BHW.
If half of you knew what some of these guys can do you wouldn't
even turn on your pc.
How about turning your cam on and taking snapshots?
forget keyloggers they can take screenshots.

I am using Eset Smart security 4. Its much better than bloated Norton Anti Virus. You can get the updates username and password by going to NOD321

I'm a big fan of Nod32/Eset at the moment. It's also what I recommend to my business clients. The scanner program is pretty lightweight, and the deployment tools are top notch.

Personal opinions don't mean much. There are several places that do regular testing of the different AV packages. The most recent one that I know of found Panda Cloud to be the most effective free AV.
