Yes nothing does beat Norton for letting real threats through, giving false
positives on totally harmless programs and eating your resources.

i'm not sure about NAV/NIS 2010, but when i used it last (i think 2007), it ate all the resources for sure (maybe they optimized it a bit since then, i dunno), but now it can't be a real problem when the 2.0 GHz Core 2 Duo processors and 4GB RAM are general even in (new middle class) notebooks
my fav is NOD32 and one thing is sure AVG sucks big time!
so here's my config:
antivirus: NOD32
cookie cleaner: CCleaner
registry cleaner: Registry Mechanic
spyware/malware cleaner: Spyware Doctor (it's not always running, i'm just scanning with it occasionally)
+ useful tools: Process Explorer, Security Task Manager, TCPview, Wireshark

I like Avast too.
I used to use Kaspersky, but it is resource intensive.
However, one time Kaspersky even missed a virus that Avast caught.
That impressed me, as Avast is free, whereas I had to pay $69 for Kaspersky.
So, I uninstalled Kaspersky and use Avast instead.
I also used NOD32 after reading rave reviews, but I think it is over-rated.

I've been using AVG but with the recent issues with the free version, I need to take the time to switch. Seems like Avast and nod32 are good ways to go.

I had SpywareDoctor for a few years but someone here said Spysweeper and a few reviews on the net say SPywareDoctor is not as good as>>>
So do you have some information why you say SpywareDoctor is in the top ones?
And also Im getting confused now with Antivirus as people keep saying Avast antivirus and I have the paid version but Kaspersky Nod32 keep being lpugged as the top too?

if u want a really strong protection use kaspersky internet security 2010 + For Antispyware use Spyware Doctor (No.1 Antispyware ever) and second best Malwarebytes (Antispyware).
For lite protection of-course not very lite go for Avast professional edition. If u go for Avast Home edition (U ll get 1 yr key for free from there official website avast.com)

dont bump old threads, locking thread, kaspersky internet security (not antivirus) + malwarebytes + hitman pro if your paranoid, drop hitman if your not
