Hey guys!

I have a big strategy in my mind to generate passive income. I have little confusion over here to decide how to name my domain based on my work. I have 2 YouTube Channels and 2 Udemy courses in draft. Both YouTube channels are entirely a different niche. My second YouTube channel is exclusively started for my Udemy courses.

I also do certain coaching and some services for my clients (who are normally my subscribers). I want all the traffic from both of the YouTube channels to visit through my website.

So here is the thing, should I buy a domain with my Personal name or should I go with Business name?

After brushing up with my confusions and doubts I will post my strategy and journey here. You guys will love it. :D :)

You know it the best.

Thanks for the reply. To be honest, I really don't know how to choose a domain. I want my domain to be well ranked on most of the search engines but I really believe that naming a website is really big decision...I don't want to mess it up so I would really need a advice here. :(

If you do a shady business and manipulation go with a business name or create an fictional name. When you are planning to do this long term in the same niche which is professional and not "sketchy" go with your real name.

If everything is legal and if you want to be transparent, go with your own name. Otherwise a business name or a nickname would be better.

Thanks for the reply. I don't know whether I will stay at single niche... maybe I will try other areas as well in future and yes business is legitimate one. So I guess I will go with nickname one.

Thanks for the reply. Business is legal but I don't want to expose or reveal too much about myself. I guess I will try with my nickname.

Business. That way u can sell it anytime if you changed your profession/niche/retire

Thanks for the reply. Yup been thinking about it to have nickname/business name type for my domain.

With what you have disclosed as coaching and consulting being your primary niche, you should go ahead with building up you personal authority. So a name based domain should perform better. Side by side if you can register a second domain name that’s business name oriented, it will add further authority. On the business name front try and register a domain that has a variety of Web 2.0 and social media profile names available which u may check on namechk.com

Business every time.

If anything goes wrong, change the name and start again.

If it is in your name, people will remember you more, for good or bad...

Hi Xlighter, both options have its merits and demerits.
I would suggest you start with a business name first. As you succeed and gain more authority, you can have a personal domain name. The idea is that the business domain name can be niche specific. I think that with a personal name, you can do more.

In the end, it's up to you my friend to decide. Make your findings and weigh both options. I have seen some great advice up there. Wishing you the best in your journey. I look forward to reading more of it.

I think that business name is better over the long run. That could be you change nature of your business completely and than you will be able to register new business name. In case with your name that would be impossible.

Business. Because whatever you spend on it will be investment.
