Google releasing a large update today

There is a site that copied my article word for word ranking number 1 and my original article which used to rank number 1 is no where to be found. Even searching the exact words I cannot locate my article on search. This happened since August 15th.

So anyone else haven't gotten their Rich Results back since May 2020?

This is how it looks for me:

reviewsnippets.PNG

Exactly the same for Rich results and Product results. I also lost my yellow 5 stars (review snippets) under my products (in the Google SERPS 5 stars review under product) since this update.

What can I do to reclaim my review snippets? Every competitor of mine has gotten them back or didn't lost them during the update. But mine haven't recovered and I don't know why.

It seems like there is a filter applied to certain sites. Some are allowed some aren't. No idea how to check or get around it though. Same for schema faqs

Update your reviews app and then just add new reviews under your products. Worked for me.

Same for me. I havent getting my featured snippet back. Even my web get in pos 1 spot. It seems theres some filter applied. Not sure how to fix this.

Everything I have tried has almost zero or no impact.

1. New high DR niche edits
2. High quality PBN's
3. Fixed site speed
4. AMP
5. Adjusted Interlinking
6. Review snippets are back - zero traffic from those
7. SEO audits 100 % excellent site score

And this has barely moved the needle. It's also not algo penalty, seems more like they have added some filter or whatever that some sites wont get it back no matter what.

Long- tails have not returned and gaining new organic keywords is stopped - the bleed continues since the update.

I've tried to recover by improving on-page seo. I think since May I have tried almost everything that comes to my mind. Almost no results.

This is depressing.

I have also doubled amount of content on my website, but the traffic is still the same.

Anyone have something positive to say? Anyone recovered?

I removed amp, it didn't affect my search traffic but my adsense earning increased.

based on my few my tests and also reading what others have noticed, i believe that there is an anti seo algorithm in place to prevent you from doing seo updates. in span of what time frame have you made these updates? also how often do you tell google to manually reindex your page through google search console?

Have done these updates for the last 3 months and I have monitored the results - There are no positive movements whatsoever, my main keywords are still there but all the long tails are gone and that means almost all the traffic is gone. While adding new niche edits and PBN's there are no new organic KW's, just my main keywords are dancing and they are sitting on page 3-4.

I only submit for reindex when I do URL structure updates or add some content/products.

Besides SEO, the site I did all the things mentioned above, it had speed issues and Core Web Vital problems that were all fixed. Meanwhile competitors on the first page have extremely poor sites with awful performance. Fixing those things amounted to nothing.

I think the problem with the review snippets is that the CTR suffers because Google displays twice as many ads now, either way I got my old snippets back + more but this didnt result in traffic increase. If I add new strong backlinks I see that the impressions are going up and the positions as well but the CTR still remains poor.

Site had 1700 KW's and dropped to 380 (Ahrefs) - The bleed continues on slower pace but still.. Im not gaining new keywords.

The new G update should come very soon (this month as expected) and if that update wont change anything then nothing will.. I think it will make things worse but we'll see.

That's the same issue happening with my adult tube site too. My main keyword is dancing on 1-2 Page and top websites that ranks for my main keyword are literally shit and doesn't have anything good in place of content but still they are ranking in top place for that keyword. In these few months my organic traffic is dropped from 20k to 3k (I had a lot of DMCA issues also) and most of my keywords that were ranking #1 have been also removed. I have tried many things like powerful backlinks, changing URL structure, making layout changes and improving website but no changes in ranking and traffic. A new google update should asap.

How is your keyword - anchor ratio? Are you using lots of direct keyword hit anchors or you are using just branded/naked URL's and other non related anchors?

This is one thing I haven't tried to fix. My main 5 keywords in GSC are the brand name and URL variations, that follows with bunch of direct hit keywords.

Yep direct keyword hit anchors, no naked URLs.

I increased traffic by 300% after losing nearly 40%. Here's what I did.

  • Moved away from guest posting with branded anchors to our money page.
  • Guest posts all have random anchors to informational pages.
  • We write all of our guest posts and then run them through SurferSEO's content editor
  • Did a full-content audit.
  • Added 4 pieces of multimedia to all content/informational pages.
  • Added custom banners (featured images) to every blog post.
  • Added an author bio to every informational page.
  • Rewrote pages with thin content.
  • Ran all pages through SurferSEO's content editor.
  • Fixed all technical and on-page errors as reported by SEMRUSH's site audit.

may I know total pages that you have and how many of them were marked as being thin content? I have noticed that having thin content pages hurts the overall ranking. just want to see the percentage on your site.. thanks

I have 93 informational pages (with content ranging from 800-2000 words). I'd say more than 80% would be classified as thin content, that is missing internal links, lacking proper heading structure, low word-count and without multimedia. Now every heading of every informational page has at least 1 image or embedded youtube video.

About 20 money pages.

Yep, that's what I'm presuming happened to me. The thin content devalued my whole site, once it was fixed, I saw gains almost immediately.

That's very interesting issue about thin content.

One of my main competitors has ultra thin content and is dominating the niche.

All his content is:

Title
Image with alt tag "title + lsi word"
Download button + title

That's all. A few words posts are dominating the niche. He has like 2000 posts and wast majority of them are top ranking, usually no 1.

Only like alexa top 500 websites are outranking him in rare cases. Don't be mislead with the download button, it is not warez stuff. There should be long articles explaining the topic.

I can't outrank him with 800+ words posts with headings, good in-depth content, multimedia etc.

after 2 weeks i have tousand a spam backlinks.. i disavowed all them and after 2 week i lost my 1 page position.. maybe spam links works now..
