A quick thought on choosing the most profitable locations for your listings:
GMB listings rank based on proximity so based on where the search query happens. Google switched to a more proximity-based ranking approach to benefit the potential customer by showing businesses within the query's proximity.
This makes a lot of sense if you really think about it. If you were to look for a service, you'd prefer it being a business within your area so you don't need to drive all the way to the end of the city to get the same service from another company.
If you want to rank in a large metropolitan, you're going to need more listings. It obviously depends on the competition so results may vary.
I always recommend good location research to find the right placements (densely populated zip codes with little to no competing GMBs), good on page SEO, citations, reviews, and posting content to your listings regularly.
