We should be glad that they are even linking out to websites. It´s their search engine and it's like your websites also - You don't have to link out to other websites if you don't want to.
If you don't like google stealing your content, you can prevent google bot from indexing it by blocking Googlebot and they won´t steal it.
If you think this is wrong, the only solution is to build your own search engine like this and make it so known that you get enough direct traffic to give other websites "organic traffic".
We have to remember that Google is still a "website" that gets a lot of direct traffic and after that, gives our websites some traffic.

What? Google is just a normal website, when it gets traffic, it shows visitor valuable results, in case they wanna take 55% of traffic - you'll have to suck it up as they gave you that 100% in the first place.

They get all the traffic, but they're nice and shows your website to it's visitors instead.

Unpopular opinion but I don't really see a problem with this. The bulk of google questions are simple enough not to warrant diving into a website.
Ex.) When is X, How much is X, Where is X, How far away is X.
I would be genuinely annoyed if I googled when is a holiday and I had to look into the actual web page.
If you loosing money to people just reading the SERPS try targeting content that cannot be answered in less then a paragraph or offer a service.
As far as google stealing content if a person were to find your content valuable beyond their simple search then they will defiantly click thorough. Think W3 Schools. When I google how to concatenate in sql I find my answer with out even having to go into their website but I know as a user that If I have future SQL questions I can reference their website directly.
Totally agree, stop blaming about "google stealing your traffic". Create valuable content that cannot be answered in a few lines, you just need to provide much more value than answering simple questions to user's search. it's not about google it's about you and your shitty content.

Google is a website that gets X amount of traffic, they redirect that traffic to other peoples sites. They don't "steal half the world's traffic", they simply stop redirecting it to other people's sites and keep it for themselves.

They only get that traffic because people are searching for my content. They don't create any content.
Time to think this over folks!
They also drive traffic to our websites.
And if you think that's a steal you can always do "robots noindex nofollow". Problem solved. Case closed.
