TikTok Banned? What does this mean..

Hi guys,

I'm sure most of you have heard that the United States government is looking to ban TikTok use in the US. That would be very bad for us, as it seems that most of us are on the same page about TikTok and it's value with unsaturated product promotion and general stuff in that sense.

What do you guys think will happen? Will the US government actually go through with it and ban TikTok, despite them claiming not to be sending private data to china, blah blah blah?

Personally, I have my fingers crossed it won't happen, but I am still scared. Wouldn't be the first time the US would try to retaliate to China. Maybe there's some way around it... I don't know, but I feel like I've gotten into this app way too late (literally just started last week) and now they're already talking about making it dissapeaer

I don't like these news either. But if TikTok gets banned in the US, there will probably be a new similar platform out there soon. Just a matter of time i suppose.

Just like it happened in India it has to start somewhere think of the big picture in the future

The sending data part is what made them ban the app not gonna happen

They may, i think they have already banned huawei in the country and very likely tiktok can be banned too as authority around the world have suspicion over the security of the data.

It doesn't concern me that countries are banning TikTok. The data collection is something that should be looked at very seriously.

It is all about politics.

US should ban the app. Why? Because China is not only banning all of their apps but actually stealing them. Even apps like Tinder. It is beyond me how such a massive country can't be original.

In my opinion, it is a very very bad and criminal practice to see a successful product, copy the original, ban the original and then market the copy literally everywhere...and this happens on a MASSIVE scale. We are not talking about peanuts here, but billions of dollars.

First of all, bans are quite easy to circumvent nowadays. And yes, I believe it will happen: we don't need to look far and see what happened to Huawei.

Tik Tok is all about data collection for China. Look how much power and influence Facebook & Instagram has.

They can swing elections one way or another. They control what people think.

China wants the same.

From an advertisers standpoint this can be a bad thing. It will mean a huge loss in exposure.

The political side is obviously different. China is being a big bully that has veto-power in the UN.

Instagram already copied tiktok with their "Reels" module in the instagram app. Few days after tiktok got banned in India Instagram launched Reels over there. Maybe the same thing will happen in USA after tiktok is banned

Americans are unbelievable capitalists. Now it's tik tok vs something American ( Reel).
It's not really about USA vs china, it's between American capitalists and Chinese capitalists.
Let's see who are better. Europeans have capitalism in thier blood since the beginning. Chinese have learnt it all very quickly and are now giving tough competition to west.

I think the probability of US banning TikTok is fairly high, though then not only TikTok would be banned.
