Hi guys - so I want to know if anyone tested this..

QUESTION: would CPC change if the SAME KEYWORD was bidding on a different domain vs many all pointing to same domain??

EXAMPLE: If 4 affiliates are all bidding on "ONLINE TRAINING" which go to BOB.com/affiliateID and it costs $1 CPC. VERSUS another affiliate bidding on SAME KEYWORD and pointing it to a different domain?

I guess I am wondering if the CPC competition is based on the destination vs Keyword only.

The idea is that, making your own site for a popular product is cheaper CPC, then just directing to your given affiliate landing page where ALL affiliates drive too.

The cpc is affected by many variables: competition, ad quality, user experience, and so on ...

The cpc is not the determining factor for your ad to appear.

Google uses a lot of data from your campaign to build a score.

This score is who enters the auction and whoever has the highest score wins.

Answering your question more clearly: yes, different domains can impact the CPC, but there are another ten variables that are also impacting. Furthermore, not always whoever offers a more expensive cpc wins, but the highest score.

Same keyword with different domain can be done & I dont see any problem in that.
BUT if you are affiliate with 4 domain and targeting single keyword for all these 4 domain then eventually you are competing with your own.
Since you have 4 positions on top of google you will have all the positions covered provided bidding is high for the keyword.

I want to understand why you want to do like this?

I am wondering why google kw planner shows cpc 1$ for keyword that doesnt have any ads running?

There are few points to remember in this.

The cpc is always related to the keywords.

If you have let's say 5 websites competing on a particular keyword then the most important factor which decides the cpc is the ad rank of that website, Now ad rank is dependent on 2 factors pricecely. Firstly, The alexa rank of the domain (subdomain never matters). Secondly, the relavancy of your adcopy with that of keyword.

Suppose all the adcopies have similar ad sets then the only factor which decides your cpc is from how much time are you running your ad, What is the CTR of your ad because these factors build your AD RANK, The only way to beat your competions is by using a higher alexa domain and highly relevant ad copy.

The landing page relevancy does matter in lowering your cpc but only in a long term strategy for only WH campaigns but if you're running a BH campaign then point is to max it out in a shorter span of time.

thanks everyone - i know there are many variables as well.. just wanted to hear others perspectives on this... appreciate the input

How do you know that there are no ads running for this kw?

Or do you refer to your campaign's kw?

I don't know if I understood your question very well ...

I believe there may be some risk, even if small. It may be that the bot misinterprets it as a financial product, easy money or something like that, which might seem fraudulent.

Google is not as sensitive as Facebook, so I think you can do some testing. At most they will only block ads :)

But be careful whenever there are words like money, cash, things like that on your page.
