Google releasing a large update today

Good job I wasn't trying to prove anything then, eh? The burden of proof is on the person making the claim, i.e. you. The fact that these global updates reach places where people have no stake or interest in Donald Trump is a basic flaw in your logic, not something in support of a claim I'm making.

If you want to talk facts and numbers, feel free. The Guardian (biggest newspaper of the UK left) saw drops in this update; the Daily Mail (ditto of the UK right) saw about exactly the same. NBC went up while Fox went down, although Fox still have almost SEVEN times as many keywords in SERPs, so make of that what you will. The funniest, though, is that Donald Trump's own website saw YUGE gains in the update...

We could argue until the cows come home about this website or that website, but if Trump's very own website got a boost in the update, I doubt this was an update targeting Trump lmao. Unless these are false flag SERPs!!!

Well this last update was kinda depressing. On the first day of the update I saw some positive movement, my keywords started to go up (10, 20, 30 places)... Though the rankings were still a long ways away from the original ones, I was thinking Google finally started rolling back that s**t update from May. But this positive movement happened only on that first day and then it stopped. Anyone else experienced the same?

I saw something similar, a few days back started to see improvements after being hit in May then last night lost all of the improvements with some worse results than the May update. There must be a filter that is pushing pages down as 1 went from page 5 last night right down to page 14 this morning, and they've moved the dial again. Im starting to lose hope as I was following everything google said and before May was moving in the right direction for them to punish me for doing what they say

I really hate to be (kinda) right about this.

Oh, dear... people really think that google will rollback the update ?

Sorry for the sarcasm, but starting from 2014 it was downhill from there and on. June 2019 core update was the first nail on the coffin, the next core updates were no different... and now this.

I don't know you guys, but since 2014, I never saw a small site/brand (that got hit hard) recovering from thoses updates.

The history goes like this: after a hit, you make a lot of improvements, make your site better (in some cases even better than competitors), but on the next update will get hit again and worse than before.

Everytime you think you found the cause, there's 10 different competitors doing what you think was the cause, without penalties.

It's like your domain get a manual penalty that don't show on GSC and your are done.

I saw some improvement after the last update (some days ago), but now is stabilizing/declining again.

same here, I check again , my local time from Tue it seem slowly the organic traffic coming back , wed also showing the same , but today thur my local time here drop back

I don't think there is any going back from this.

I saw a slight 10%+ or so increase last week and then they did that new update again a few days later. It will always be + one update and then - then next except you will always lose more than you gain.

I have one site that was consistently in the top 20 for 9 highly competitive keywords for 5+ years. It dropped out of the top 100 totally after the May 5th update. But over the last 3 days, 3 of those terms have reappeared with significant jumps.

Hope springs eternal, but I'm not holding my breath.

Same here, we saw a small jump the first day, now back to normal. Guys, there is no improvements you can do to your sites...its all about Google. Because if improvements were the cause, all the shitty sites that are on top shouldn't be there!

We just need to wait for uncle Google sort their shit out!

I second this. Not sure how to move forward from this point on.

There are lots of huge and well known brands who took the hit and they are complaining, these companies have the best seo experts available and when they cannot figure it out..there isnt much anyone of us could do either.. this update is just meant to mess with everyone for ad revenue.

Spam sites rocking serps is the indicator that they have lost the control of their algorithm and they havent been able to fix this with 2 months now.. they could make a complete rollback to fix this, but they wont for whatever the reason is.

Yesterday LOWEST traffic since 2017. Average traffic in April: 500-600 daily. Yesterday 100.

Makes me wonder if doing SEO will ever be worthwhile again because as things stand now, it really seems a big expensive waste of time.

It depends on how you look at it. Keep in mind that some people lost traffic and some got a nice boost from the latest update (I'm the one :)). In this thread, you only hear from people who lost traffic. If you only pay attention to what written here indeed it may seem very demoralizing/depressing. So you need to put things into perspective before making assumptions.

Yeah, that I know but it seems the criteria for ranking on Google are all the more inexplicable, ambiguous and obscure. I've never relied on Google so I wasn't affected as I've always used social media to boost sales for my business. I was never sold on the whole idea of ranking on Google. I find it all along confusing, especially now after the update and the outcry it raised.

It was pretty easy a year or two ago, now it has become more sophisticated.
P.S. I meant "I'm NOT the one :) who got boost"

Holy moly today I see 55% traffic increase vs 7 days ago, not where it was before but that's an increase anyway. Anyone else who got hammered sees an improvement?
