Google releasing a large update today

I am not saying that people should reveal their domains/websites. What's the point of having a thread about a core update if people refuse to share their experiences? All I would like is to be pointed in the right direction. Should I focus on links, content or page speed etc..

Another thing is that this update is pure bullshit. This thread is 60 pages long and no one knows what this update is about. New, small websites are ranking high. Authority sites are mostly not being hit by the update. Sites that are between these two above got tanked.

I see your point and I have waited for two weeks for things to settle down, then a month to see if things improve and now, almost two months in and seeing that anyone can copy parts of my articles and easily outrank them, I have to assume that it's a penalty and not just a waiting game. That's why I think there has to be something about the links (about 80% are ******** - completely natural though).

I've read a few days ago on seroundtable that google doesn't put any time limit on links, if they go after links and anchor text, they go all the way back, NOT 2 or 3 years back. Although I have not bought any links in the past 3 years, there could some very old links that might be hurting my site/ranking.
I have good quality content, so there is not much I do with it. Maybe small adjustments here and there.

I honestly find this question relevant, might be something here. Though i know politics isnt allowed on bhw so dunno if were allowed to discuss this?
 
We dont lean anyway..........nothing to do with politics and have never mentioned a politician or any political views on our site. Dont watch any relevant videos either

How's your traffic? Is it till on the up side because I'm considering removing web 2.0 backlinks pointing to my site. I don't know if it's the right thing to do.
 
Some of my keywords are still jumping from page 1 to 5,6,7,8,9, and then back to 1 again. I still think we should be a little bit more patient.

see the attached. The site, amateur dropshipping site, no blog, no content. Except for the product description.
DA is 6, 33 referring domains, and 999 backlinks. It ranks number 8 for my keywords.

My site DA55, dropped from page 1 to page 5.

I tweeted the site to John to ask if his team made a mistake. He said he is happy to see a new site appeared on the first page.

It pissed me off. This update is so fishy.

Are web2.0 and profile page on github etc is bad for backlink?
 
Does submission to video, pdf, audio, ebook, infographic, etc to sites like these.

help or hurt my site?

Does it consider as a spam / low quality / bad link?

 
Holly molly. I just checked for a review and there are two Amazon links at the top followed by two pages of YouTube videos (TWO PAGES!) and then start the reviews of some poor losers that I was actually searching for. Oh Google, what the hell are you doing?
 
I searched for another review and the first page is like this: four Amazon links, two identical links to a review websites, two links to the manufacturer. What's with these multiple links from the same domain?

Yeah, tell me about it. Yesterday I searched for a bank profile in the US and found five Google Books pages on the top 10, and those pages were not in any way relevant to the search query I entered. It was in page 2 I saw what I was actually looking for. Google is so messed up right now. And that's one of the reasons I believe there's a higher chances of them reverting this update in the near future.
 
It's been nearly a month and a half now and these fuckers still haven't reversed it.
