Google releasing a large update today

This is the only truth. Google care about their own profit and sites like youtube, and their partners such as amazon, quora, reddit, pinterest, who knows what relationship they have and thats why they will always rank. You can do this or that, if you lucky maybe you will rank but in long term you will always lose against these corporations and their websites.

This is why I am now shifting more focus towards my email list and acquiring more subs. At least with that, I have near-total control over anything and won't ever be held hostage again by google or any other company.

I know it may sound funny but... someone, sometimes are writing here "it was update to pay for google ads" and so on...
I saw an interesting thing. My websites that's actually paying for ads (from 2020 begin~), but without links & with low quality content is climbing as never (I saw it and said W T F). Others, not being advertised in google ads, STRONG, SO STRONG dump.
What do you think? It can be a factor or it's just an one-time accident?

This could be an interesting find! Maybe the keyword "relevance" is passing through from ads to search. Worth testing on some cheap keywords to start with, for sure!

I have a competitor like that, low auth site with content written by Google Translate, at the top of huge volume keywords. Hidden PBNs for sure.
This update is all pro PBN.

Yeah but the results look like shit too. If you look for anything just a bit off the mainstream, it totally sucks.

Google's looking like Altavista at the end. The total collapse is a short hop from here.

US Dept of Justice is already probing Google for its skewed search results. Hope it helps some day. Where are all the antitrust laws?

Not at all. I mean, they have backlinks from websites like clash of clans hack and it's not negative seo. I have some sites with PBN's as well but it's definitely not pbn. No way. They doesn't know how SEO works probably lmao

I actually makes sense as advertisers' websites pass manual review by google employees so it kinda makes sense that reviewed sites rank higher.
But this theory has been circulating for as long as I remember myself in IM.

I used to advertise on google and I personally never seen any benefits in serps.

Well, if this theory works it would be easy to give a push to our websites by buying Google ads for $1-5.

Alright, if anyone is interested, this is what I tried the last two to three weeks in order to improve a pure, 100% whitehat website that lost 30% of traffic at the beginning of May 2020: first, I updated some older content and the result was promising, since Google did put it higher (unfortunately, if initially the articles were in the top three, then fell to the second page and now, after the update, they're at the bottom of the first page, so there was no significant increase in traffic, but it's promising in the long run, I guess). Secondly, I decided to improve the core vitals that Google flaunts as necessary - the result is a better website, but no improvement in ranking or traffic. Thirdly, I decided to copy the schema.org structure of the websites that were unaffected by this update and it's been a few days, but no result. Overall, a month after the May update, I am now close to a 50% traffic drop and the keywords continue to disappear (as shown by Semrush).
Edit: There is a fourth option available, to start building links, but that would defeat the concept of whitehat websites.

It doesnt mean your tweaks not work. I red somewhere one of The google's authority said that if you've been penelized but algo update you can recover when next algo update is happening and not before.

If that's the case, I doubt many websites will survive until September or October, when Google usually upgrades their algorithm, that is unless they screw it up to an even worse state.

2k ref domains do follow doesn't mean it's spam

Oh and I forgot to tell that 120k of backlinks are linked to 4 anchor text, plus other anchor texts are adult keywords but he is not in that niche....this is sad
Is it possible that he received a penalty but because he has a strong backlink profile does not affect him? This site receives 1.5m users every month

Yes, but only on a couple of articles where I felt that there was a bit of stuffing on the opening paragraph, but not on the rest since the articles were already decently balanced.

Yup seeing the same thing. My rankings are all over the place I wake up one day doing really well and then the next day traffic is cut in half
