Deploying multiple wordpress on one Digital Ocean Droplet

Hello,

I am thinking of starting 4-5 blogs and I cant afford to take different hosting plans for all of them.

Somewhere I read that buying a droplet from Digital Ocean and we can Install multiple wordpress sites with different domains is possible.

Is it really possible..? I thought a port can be targeted to only one domain and only subdomains can be created but never a different domain.

Please let me know if you have tried it or if you know any other cheap ways to do it.

You should go with Plesk droplet, DO has 3 domain free plan - https://marketplace.digitalocean.com/apps/plesk
And easy one-click WP installation/management from Plesk panel, constant Plesk updates & user-friendly control panel, will keep you worry-free of any technical issues.
If you need to host more sites, you can use WP Multisite, and just properly configure DNS for each domain - https://wordpress.org/support/article/wordpress-multisite-domain-mapping/

Sure, you will need to have virtual hosts configured. You can virtually host unlimited domain in there. The only limit is your VPS resource.

For multiple domains, you will need to forward them to digitalocean nameserver like so..

ns1.digitalocean.com
ns2.digitalocean.com
ns3.digitalocean.com

Then go to networking menu of your DO, and add those domains there. You will have options for forwarding those domains to a specific droplet.

It's a bit technical, but once you learn it; it will be pretty easy.

I think you are telling me about redirection... I am talking about 3 different domains with 3 different contents.

Nopes I am telling you about having multiple sites on one server. Cpanel does it the same way, but it is managed by cpanel.

For your case, you will need to create the virtual hosts by hand. All of the domains will point to one server. Then with virtual host entry, you will route them to different folders. Makes sense?

You can use services like Runcloud, Serverpilot etc.

I guess Runcloud has a free plan. Serverpilot is paid.

You can even use EasyEngine. But Runcloud/Serverpilot are easy options.

But I guess you need fresh droplets for all of the above.

I do this all the time. Perfectly feasible, especially for low traffic sites.

Transferring the site is the same like cpanel, but you will have to do it via ssh. Use zip and unzip packages for zipping. For db backup, you could either install phpmyadmin, or could do it using mysqldump command.

Other suggestions are not that noob friendly, just go with the cheapest one-click Plesh droplet, for 5-10$ monthly, you can scale up/resize droplet without any interruptions, in case if you get a lot of traffic. Then run multiple WP sites from Plesk panel, as I described... I am running 5k daily visitors site, with a lot of content/media, without any issues, on the cheapest droplet. Just make sure you optimize the WP site itself, by following - https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/ recommendations.
