Been with hostwinds for over a decade and near everyday there is something.

1) Site down due to using too much resource -
2) Site load time has massively increased since moved server
3) Getting emails stating site is down + pigdom stating its down
4) Can't edit WP due to being unbearably slow
5) Increased my monthly payment despite massive performance drop

I have simple WP site with a few images on the site (normal load time of less than 1 sec) = now if it loads excess of 20.

Every time I open a ticket, they deny there is even a problem, despite screen grabs and email sent.

I can't remember the amount of tickets.

Has anyone else had problems with these guys + any suggestion on where to go that's better.

What did customer support say?

These issues have been going on for years, but recently

1) Its not happening - and all ok when they are testing
2) CSS causing load time - but when I told them it was loading in less than a second before I moved server, they escalated -
3) When escalated they said I was getting attacked and the way forward seems to be - that I send them my IP everyday so they can blacklist the attackers ( this has been going on a bit)

Just cancel it and move to another hosting... This is not the first time someone complains about them.

If I'm not mistaken, he is the owner of Hostwinds.
Not sure what difference that is going to make..

Like I said, i'm really looking to move on. Can't be bothered to move really, but it takes time out my day when the sites down + effecting my SEO.

Have not had allot of experience in with other providers - hope they are not all as bad.

Got several domains through them and not sure of how much hassle it will be.

Suggestions..

Thread moved.

Also, on that note; if the hosting and the support is that bad, why don’t you just move to another host? What have you got to lose?

I understand your point of view. I too would probably be frustrated with a terrible service/customer support.
I hope you solve this issue as soon as possible, one way or another.

Thats the plan.. Could you suggest..

Been thinking about self hosting - but hit a problem with the SSL certificate.

Really need someone to host multiple domains, thats not crazy $$$

Dont self host it’s not worth the hassle. How many domains you got, how much traffic?

I have a thread on this. At this point we should just make a mega thread on hostwinds fuck ups.

Don't get me wrong, I don't expect 100% up time..

But don't have high traffic site and its just a wordpress site with simple theme. And near everyday (or at least 5 times a week), there is an issue that just gets ignored/denied.

So, any suggestion on good hosts that have SSL certs..

look in the marketplace there’s plenty of good providers. It should be easy to move your sites as well - copy and move files ad databases. Then update hosts file do you can test and confirm everything works before you actually move.

Once you’re happy, Update dns servers accordingly.

If the actual domains are also with hostwinds, move those first. If you need more info just ask.

Thanks. No domains are with godaddy.

Have you had any good experiences - Is there any other alternatives than shared hosting. If feel the lack of performance at HW maybe due to, too many sites on their servers - I could be wrong.
