It is for this reason that the situation will surely not be able to last, there is also the fact that visitors have more trouble finding what it is looking for and for search engine number 1 like Google, is very bad. I am not saying that some people will not be affected by any penalty, but basically what is relevant should always be after an update.
Consider the Covid-19 but also the fact that sunny days are coming to try to better interpret the needs of your visitors. Last year statistics cannot be used as a reference.

Europe is going after them big time, North America (Canada and the US) is a joke, they basically do whatever they want.
Breaking them up most probably won't work because they gonna cry "and how are we going to make money for indexing the web"
So, regulation is the best option, in terms of how many ads can appear on each page of SERP, and more importantly they would have to be easily recognized as ads.
Moreover, with the upcoming Chrome update, they will even block more ads that THEY think are obtrusive. While I agree that some websites overdo it, they should leave that choice the users and not try to police the web and twist it to its advantage. You can easily figure out how this is going to go, you want your ads to be seen, go with google, we control the web. It's freaken unbelievable how much control they have.

Sadly a lot of time will pass until real measurments can be taken against them. They are monopolizing XXI century style, by indirect control
France and Australia are already making them pay for taking new's websites info and putting them into snippets.

I think they should make this for all publishers and not just news websites. I frankly won't ever be buying anything from google ever again.
This is a huge wake up call for everyone. Don't ever just rely on google or any one platform for traffic cause they can just take it all away just like that.
And nowadays with that stupid E.A.T update, google is feeling cocky and arrogant like they can police the internet and tell you what you can't or can't do on your own website.
So true, sadly the lawmakers are stuck in the XX century and unable to do anything. Pretty much stupid if you ask me.
Besides that, there is definitely something going on with the crazy algo, the traffic on hourly bases is crazy, almost dead for two hours, and then spikes up again where it was before.

I mean, i were not only reffering to info from google search, their control over they ecosystem is monopolistic and hard to prove. Things with news moved because they faced another big powerful industry.
But for example with :
- Chrome: Oh hey let's create our own browser, promote it because we are the biggest ad company in the world. And then make everyone in the web work randomly bad, competition from services and from other browsers by implementing "Better standards"
- Android: Oh hey there! This is our free product, this was funcional when we realised it, but year after year we have stripped functions for google functions. So it is your choose to use Android as you want but hey! if you want to install chrome you will do as we want.
- AMP: Well... our own controlled standard, let's make everyone slowly adopt it, then the internet is pretty much ours.
- Ads : Well, lets create groups anti-advertisment who write convenient rules against our competitors in the ad segment by saying "Acceptable ads" and start to block them by default on our browser and associates.
Everyone of those is a monopolistic practice and it is actually legal ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
With just those 4 they have an absolut control over users (by making chrome the only acceptable alternative to use google services), over industry (as Android is the only option), over publishers (with serps) and by ad clients with their open war against most networks out there.
Only the other big players are able to stand by the fact that their platforms are completly closed like FB

We get it seriously, its all business. And google isn't imperialistic but a corporation which is trying to make money.
But what's the point of rankings blogspot and social media links in every single SERP query. Does the hosting companies and domain registrar's doesn't invest money in ads?
If this continues then people surely will ditch domains and hostings for free platforms. Because if the sole intention is to rank higher & get sales (or whatever), then these free platform sites are providing way better ROI!!

Not sure about that, the day they have announced that the May 2020 update has been fully rolled out the ranking and volatility has gone crazy. Especially today (May 21). I just wish it would settle down, no matter good or bad so I can start making adjustments to my sites.

I do Adsense , Google recently claim they remove Ad balance due to feedbacks, they even claim so now more ads will be shown etc stuffs.
I don't know how to go about it , I does see some site pop out tell people disable ad blocker . I never , I does ask around here want to put or don't . A lot claim visitors can just go google for other sites with Same information if your sire got pop out tell people disable ad blocker.
Google side should know this, as they want to earn from Adwords , if a lot using ad blockers mean Advertiser can't even let audiences see their products on Publisher sites which promote adsense.
Yeah I got that email too. It definitely makes me think that this update has something to do with them trying to maximize profits through adsense by all the publishers expense. Let's just hope that this isn't a permanent thing but I do see them headed towards that way within the next decade or less.

Believe it or not, we got a huge drop on the 6th of May update and start loosing bunch of KW and dropped on all rankings from the top. Even though you guys say the update is done, yesterday, they must have made another tweak again because they must have noticed things are not right!
And now....we dropped EVEN MORE!!!
