Esp. after the cut.

The seller is highly reputable here, has answered all my questions and probably would be close to pulling the trigger considering my budget restraints (-couple hundred upfront, couple hundred/month for SEO/content).

What should i be looking at right now? Am okay with seeing even $100-$500/month.

Or would it be worthwhile to grow the amazon affiliate as usual, and then just reach out to the direct companies with the sales data afterwards to negeotiate a higher rate?

Your nuts :D (jk)
If you know your niche and think you can grow big, why not, you can also contact the sellers on amazon directly. I saw a thread about that recently but i cant seem to find it.

I believe amazon cut the affiliate commission which killed a lot of peoples income. I don't have one myself but I read a lot of people upset about that, think you now only get 3% or something.

Well, it it's up to you if you think it's worth it or not, and how you see the future of Amazon.

I am still making money with Amazon, although it's 30-40% less. But it's still bread.

They have been cutting the commissions before. From what I've heard, in Germany they have also cut so that it's only 1.5% commission on the stuff that people buy that you didn't link for. So if you link to a computer, but the customer buys an expensive TV - then you only get 1.5%.

The above is most likely coming to US soon, too.

If you think the niche is easy and you can rank for it - go ahead. Make a budget and organize everything to see what you will need to write and pay for. Set it up and then wait and see what happens.

As I see it, it's nice to have an Amazon site on the side. But I would never make it my main income.

If you have sufficient traffic and sales then you can go direct to manufacturers.

I am thinking to start Amazon Affiliate website too, But I think the main part is to write content which I don't like at all.

Since you are a beginner I would advise you to first try creating a website on your own and learn few basics of it before spending large amounts.

I bought my niche Amazon affiliate website from here as well. Spent around $300 for everything; website to hosting and seo. It was 3 months ago and finally I got my first affiliate order last week. I was publishing 1 or 2 articles weekly but I was demotivated and stopped writing because of the Amazon`s commission cuts.

After seeing the first order, I published another article a few days ago. But I am still planning to sell it as I have already started another project and I have no time for this.

What I want to say is that if you have time and if you know what you are doing, yes you can still earn from that. And one last thing; quality content is king, If you are not planning to publish quality articles regularly, I do not recommend this.

then you just want to make money :D let others do content
or get it for free from waybackmachine ;)

Is the website already making some revenue ?

It would be better to have some sales data on hand before you start reaching out to companies.

With the new commission rates I would think it twice, if you feel there is an opportunity maybe it is better to look for a different retailer and affiliate program to monetize your traffic. Ranking a new Amazon affiliate site takes time and money and you have to be certain that the return will be worth it.

Sorry if that didn't make sense - that was the plan. Build and rank, maybe start reaching out to companies a year later.

This!

So much effort, time and money just for collecting pennies?

So many products out there to promote and have better commission.

Don't waste your time and money!

If they do that for the US, people are screwed.

NO you are not, I myself starting the same journey.
well Amaz site basicly is a blog site, So there is many possibility for the site, the important thing is traffic ,and Rank

What's the best route for this? Simply cut amazon out and start purchasing in bulk/shipping yourself? Does anyone have experience with a manufacturer dropshipping for them?

Amazon can cut the commissions again at any time. If you're okay with that, then go ahead.

I am not much experienced in amazon sites in general, but why would anyone want to promote something for just 3% commission?

I don't think that is even worth the time. It don't even motivate me. You could just find direct sellers and/or start your own big business instead or use other sites to do that, then depending on a site which pays you 3% for bringing in sales.. what if in the next few years they get more greedy and decrease it to 1% commision? Or maybe 0.5% commission? 0.1% commission? Who knows. o_O
