Journey: $100/day Speeding Websites

With quite some time on my hands these past few months, I thought it would be worthwhile to start learning how to do stuff using WordPress.

One thing I've learned to do quite well is optimizing websites for speed and performance, which is actually quite a fun process once you find the right tools.

Having been on Fiverr and Freelancer for years, I began to realize that this gig was actually quite popular, and in my opinion, quite lucrative too, since it only requires 30-60 minutes to complete in most cases, and can easily be taught to VA's to replicate.

..and thus began my journey into this specific service.

I decided to record this journey on BlackHatWorld while it's fresh, so I can teach or exchange ideas to the youngins in this forum.

A little background about me, I wrote this AMA about my journey to $100k a few weeks ago, the TLDR on that one is that I resold likes and followers from BHW to Instagram people, blablabla, it worked.

Anyway, this is going to be a bit different, because I'm going to focus on one specific service, document my process from the start, even create an e-book/guide/video situation as I go along, so make sure to watch the thread, give inputs, be kind to each other, and let's make some fuccin $$$$

The early stage plan

- Research
- Put my ideas into sellable words
- To rank or not to rank?
- Create listings on Fiverr, Freelancer.com
- Work on guide (for people and VA's)
- Acquire domain so running ads
- Run ads to website & figure out where to send people

Initially, my idea has been to build a website for this cause, explain the product, then link out to one of my gigs, probably the Fiverr gig, since I already have a plan for Freelancer.com, and a few other surprises I just found.

Luckily, I found my domain fast, and building the website was a breeze for me, so here's how that went.

I used some domain with really high DA on the first day, something that literally never happens to me.

Not only is it epic DA, it's also got a keyword in it, literally the BHW Gods have smiled upon me this week



I took some time to build a landing page this week, hand-wrote all the content for now.

I also realized you can't change your name on Fiverr unless you restart your account, so I went ahead and created FastLaneSEO on Fiverr and created a gig for my website speed up gig.



I already realize that there's thousands of sellers on Fiverr, but I have some ideas on how to counter this




For the Fiverr gig, I had a unique idea that other sellers weren't doing, in terms of what the gig delivers.



Firstly, that basic gig is for $5, I think this is going to be replaced soon but the Standard and Premium gig are basically what I'm going to try to focus on.

I'll sell them the guide for $10, so they can do it themselves, or charge them $20-25 to do an "all-in-one" speed up.

Anyway, these are some minor details, let's get into the juicy.

This is true, I've seen quite a few websites that are going to be difficult to speed up, and currently putting some words together to explain these aspects to clients, why some websites can't get faster, explain to them the limitations and so on.

My aim is to get peoples websites to load in around 3 seconds, most people so far have had really slow (10-20 seconds), and have been relatively straight forward fixes.

There's a few beefy websites that I have just avoided working on, but this is a challenge I'll have to get around.

Optimization: $20-25

I'm not sure yet, the prices are subject to change. The goal is to do 3-4 websites a day, and make $100 profit.

How are you planning to get clients?

I plan to run ads to the website, then link out to my gigs or a form to collect emails and details, probably using an incentive like a free optimization audit or something, then make the conversions later. Still working this out, but for right now people who come to my website through Google Ads are redirected to my Fiverr gig



I have a few other ideas too.

For example, there's hundreds of Facebook groups for WordPress people, so far I realize that they are mostly spam, but I'm sure if I can outsource some outreach efforts, I can probably get some results, or at least capture some emails or data to use later.

On Freelancer.com, you can also look up gigs by keyword, and reach out to the buyer, asking for the spot (reverse auction)



However, I'm still trying to put my thoughts into words so I can get my VA's to reach out to these people.

I realize there's probably bots for Freelancer.com, but I'm not sure yet, still early.

I ran a small ad on AdWords last night, just $20






Pretty pricey, but not bad, I can work with that.

I got one guy on Fiverr asking about the gig, but nothing special.




So far spending is looking something like this

- $205 on the domain
- $10 hosting
- $20 Google AdWords

..and a few hours of my time

Began jotting down some notes about the process, so I can offer this as a free download or bonus later, or sell on Fiverr, not sure yet.

Looking into creating a YouTube tutorial as well, which might be a good source of traffic.

From my experience let me tell you something, I might be wrong, just giving you some advice.

It would be very hard to do 3-4 websites a day. I suggest you charge more like in the range of $50 - $60 and aim for 2 sites a day. Some websites are hard to pull off and may take around 2-3 days to finish it.

Thanks, I will keep this advice in mind. I'm not 100% on the pricing yet, but you're probably right.

The thing is though that there's a lot of sellers already doing it for $25

My initial aim for 3-4 per day I think would be something like 1 person from Fiverr, 1 person from Freelancer.com, and one person from Facebook/Google per day

I'm not really sure how my estimate will work out, but if you're right and I can only get 1-2 per day, I will charge a little bit more

Another reason I think you're probably right is because so far all the websites I've fixed haven't really been that complex, but if I have some issues come up along the way, it might take me longer to speed up, or might not be able to speed up at all.

Don´t forget to up your income by using Fiverr Affiliate links to your gig also, could make $40 more on each order and also make some cash if they find another gig author to buy from instead .. =)
