Google took it from me after about 4 or 5 months.

No and yes. Depends on what you do with that domain and how the full domain name will look like. If it doesn't make reference to the OS, you can use it, but be carefull that domain registrars have a listed on branded words, and you won't get the domain registered, or even suspended if you manage to. You can buy a domain name with "android" in it, and make reference to the robot.
