Why doesn’t anyone feel the need to follow lockdown protocol?

Some of the responses in this thread display a large part of the problem with society. There's absolutely NO PROOF (none, you can't find any) that prove this virus is capable of mass-casualty by itself. In fact, multiple Governments have been criticized, proven, and have admitted that they're forcing inflation of infection numbers for monetary reasons - which means they're basing "lockdown" orders on imaginary numbers - not factual numbers, imaginary. These fictitious numbers driving lockdown are affecting the lives of millions: employment, businesses, food chains, supply management.

Initially, the lockdown was to "flatten the curve" for hospitals and has dramatically shifted to other agendas. Most people were accomodating while the objective of "flattening the curve" was realistic. Now that the curve has become non-existent, and we've sliced "expert models" to mere fractions, they're still utilizing the fear-mongering to keep people in place - a "2nd wave", a "deadly 3rd wave". Actually, multiple cited and reputable researchers and institutes have provided incredibly strong evidence that COVID has been around since 2019 and we're potentially experiencing a 2nd (if not 3rd). Of course, that's being ignored.

The common counter-argument is "I don't want to risk myself or my family", which easily proves you're a sheep. Why? Each day you risk yourself, your family, and those around you. The common cold, the common flu (which vaccines are a guessing game of prevention) are just as fatal to the elderly with pre-existing conditions as COVID. When you're sick, you stay home. Actually, most of you STILL go to work, putting everyone else, and their families at risk of getting sick too. If you didn't, work environments wouldn't be breeding grounds for viruses and bacteria.

There's no viable reason to keep the world, or minimal countries closed. None whatsoever. If you're scared, stay home. Keep your family home. Let the rest of us resume our lives at the risks we choose. We don't take you sky-diving, and we're not going to come knocking on your door. If your counter-argument to that is "you need to go out and get food" - well, you're obviously going out to get food now, so keep maintaining your same level of protection. Maintain good hygiene, don't touch me (because believe me, I didn't want to touch you either), wash your hands, and use hand sanitizer - also, keep your mask on. Because I'm not.

Edit: Informing yourself is the most powerful tool you have.

There was actual street parties in the UK on VE day. I don't blame people for wanting to kick back however they've just undone 6-7 weeks worth of lockdown. These same people will then be clapping on Thursdays to thank the NHS, hypocrites the lot of them.

I honestly think 'clapping' is stupid.

Because forced lockdown of the entire population is laughably moronic and makes no statistical sense. It feels like living in a idiocracy world where no one bothers to look or care about statistics or facts.

85%+ of all deaths are those 65+ so we move to a full lockdown which destroys the economy and plunges tens of millions into poverty? For almost every single country, 50%+ of all deaths were in nursing home!?? Why are 20 year olds in rural areas locked down!

How about we lock down those demographics that are at at risk. The vast majority of the country has a mortality rate of 0.1 or less, so why are we locking everyone down?

Here’s a recent MIT paper which I read which had me seething considering how obvious their recommendations were.

https://www.nber.org/papers/w27102.pdf

And save me your moral arguments for saving gram gram. All public policy and the economy in general works on give and trades between economic success and risk.

I know 2 people died that are 40+. They don't smoke and otherwise in good health

But I agree it is little bit stronger than the flu

Here in the UK our government appear to be taking it seriously, yet not the entirety of our population actually are.

Then again, we are the country that think 30,000 deaths only appears to be bad, because we are "world leaders" in "collecting statistics". What a croc of crap.

As for the populus, the older generation don't give a damn, because they have the "well I'm going to die sooner or later anyway" mentality. One way systems in supermarkets that everyone ignores. Social distancing that 80% of people ignore. Yet our government is going to be lifting/easing lockdown in the coming days.

Watch this space, UK will double, if not triple their deaths in 2 weeks from lockdown ending.

At the moment I'm driving my other half to work every day as she works as a doctor in a hospital and we have a drive past a park to get there and it's been rather busy the last few days.

I can see the discussion of whether the Government did enough etc. but every time we see that park we know it's more down to the "British Public" thinking the rules don't apply to them and as long as they aren't coughing they can meet up and see friends.

What I find sad, is looking at the confirmed cases charts and comparing how the UK/US are doing to other places like Italy, Spain, France and Germany.

Pretty much from weak leadership. Boris came on last night and basically said nothing.

We built the nightingale hospitals, yet now they aren't even being used. We forced people out of work and now we are forcing them back to work.

We didn't close the borders or stop air travel, yet now we are telling people who land here to quarantine.

People are sick of it. The ideal thing the government could do is be honest, they so far have based all their predictions of some stupid model which has been entirely wrong.

Also I know 3 people at my job that has it they said they feel like crap but otherwise they are ok

gentle reminder : this thread serves no purpose other than a much needed rant.

With cases reaching 4 figures and rising everyday, you’d think more people would be concerned about the lockdown but so far it’s only the supermarkets who’re on everyone’s asses about sanitising hands before entry.

I could see almost the entire population on the streets taking this lockdown as a vacation from jobs, schools etc.

Do people think they’re invincible? It’s these same assholes that show up at the hospital a couple weeks later waiting to be triaged.

Yeah man it's the same here (UK) I'm in the middle of the sticks small town 15 miles away from a supermarket, 15miles from a hospital etc so almost rural ... no cases last few weeks everyone has been treating things like normal. People and family going around to houses, shops no one keeps the distance, everyone is in everyones garden drinking and partying.

It's a false sense of security I think, BUT when no one in your circle or area is effected and they know of no one it's easy to be like that.

I mean I've even stopped washing my hands after going to the toilet so things must be improving? ;)

Yeah but also isn't the guy who they use for all the modelling data has a record of producing fake numbers or fudging stuff?

It dont help in the UK that Wales, Scotland, N.Ireland and England all want to do their own fucking thing as some political point scoring. The way I see it we all went into lockdown together we all need to come out having 1 set of rules for some and not for the others is just insane.

Totally agree with t2van.

As one MP during question time today pointed out Boris is being "Primeminister of England" not the UK. The UK curve has been flat for a month now. There is no decline (yet). There is no evidence to support relaxing the lockdown. Nor are we being offered any explanation of why they believe it can be relaxed. Death is taking a backseat to politics and commerce. They are using the lives of English citizens to test if their decision is right or wrong.

Spot on! I also read that hospitals are classifying cases or deaths as related to COVID to get paid more:anyway:.
Not sure of the validity of that info, however it's clear that this has shifted to other agendas. Still people should exercise caution when going out and from what I've seen that's not the case.

I go out all the time. I didn't hoard anything. I don't douse myself in disinfectant. I don't wear a mask. Why? Bc this is all bs. The death rate in Sweden is similar to the death rate in NY state...which is as high as it is bc half the deaths were in elder care centers and the governor mandated that care homes couldnt prevent infected people from returning after treatment.

This disease targets immuno deficient people. I'm healthy. I want immunity as fast as possible....and I probably already had it in November/December. Last major equivalent Chinese Flu was during the time of Woodstock. 100k amaricans died. No one locked down or gave an F. I don't give an F.

Worst case scenario is that it is nature's way to cull the population a bit... were at 99.9% survival rate. We'll survive.

I think people are going along with this bc life right now is boring and humans have a natural tendency to seek and create stress... we strive on adrenaline and adventure but our daily lives are boring as can be so a world pandemic is perfect: we get the fake stress of worrying about a pandemic and the comfort of being locked indoors to wait it out. This is the equivalent of watching porn vs having sex: a slight thrill vs the real thing.

Everything in life is a trade-off. You like to eat 12000 calories of junk food like Michael Phelps did but you also don't want to train 8 hours a day, well, you get fat. Health is not somehow magically excluded from this universal rule. We all make small concessions of health for pleasure or money. That plane you boarded a few months ago? There's always a chance you'd die. That car ride? Even bigger chance than the plane crash. But nobody stays at home for fear of dying in traffic.

So, concessions. In this way, covid-19 is yet another concession. Stay at home like a monk on his cell or go out? And if you live in a city, you must order food and surely you're not getting the delivery with a full hazmat suit. So you make another small concession because you'd rather prefer not to go hungry.

The difference in today's situation is that these concessions are forced. While I personally don't care income-wise as this hasn't impacted my streams at all, let's imagine a young person who lives paycheck by paycheck. Their ability to order stuff and casually pretend to be virtuous is rather limited. Got to work. But they can't. And a non-trivial percentage is going out of work for a long time because closing down production for months translates into a huge recession.

So, if you were on that position, a healthy person in a super small % of danger but taking a big hit in money, how would you feel about all this? Blissfulness because "you're safe"?
