Why doesn’t anyone feel the need to follow lockdown protocol?

gentle reminder : this thread serves no purpose other than a much needed rant.

With cases reaching 4 figures and rising everyday, you’d think more people would be concerned about the lockdown but so far it’s only the supermarkets who’re on everyone’s asses about sanitising hands before entry.

I could see almost the entire population on the streets taking this lockdown as a vacation from jobs, schools etc.

Do people think they’re invincible? It’s these same assholes that show up at the hospital a couple weeks later waiting to be triaged.
I am almost sure the situation is worse in my locality. These people are going outside for no reason whatsoever. Many of them aren't even wearing masks. Stupid, people are stupid!

Because forced lockdown of the entire population is laughably moronic and makes no statistical sense. It feels like living in a idiocracy world where no one bothers to look or care about statistics or facts.

85%+ of all deaths are those 65+ so we move to a full lockdown which destroys the economy and plunges tens of millions into poverty? For almost every single country, 50%+ of all deaths were in nursing home!?? Why are 20 year olds in rural areas locked down!

How about we lock down those demographics that are at at risk. The vast majority of the country has a mortality rate of 0.1 or less, so why are we locking everyone down?

Here’s a recent MIT paper which I read which had me seething considering how obvious their recommendations were.

https://www.nber.org/papers/w27102.pdf

And save me your moral arguments for saving gram gram. All public policy and the economy in general works on give and trades between economic success and risk.

Inter-family domestic violence is rocketing in a lot of countries.. probably best some people do get outside a bit more often. If they're keeping to themselves and not trying to lick my door handle then who cares if they're physically outside of their houses.

There's ignoring health risks by going and hugging strangers in the street, and then there's standing out the front of your house in the street minding your own business because you're going stir crazy.

It depends on the country. In mine, lockdown is nonsense. Our economy is fragile. Our health services are awful. Govt measures are downright and objectively nonsense self destructing:
-Disallowing people using private vehicles and forcing them on cabs or public transportation, while the trend on other countries is quite the opposite.
-They are causing huge crowds at banks by giving out free money.
-Disallowing delivery services due straight and plain political reasons.
-Giving out misleading information, extending lockdown excesively and beyond reason.
-Our economy is hugely off the books, most people live by the day and relief funds are simply not enough. Yet most of the govt. measures aim at formal dependent workers, a minority.

At this point, people break lockdown out of need. And on top of that, keeping it up has turned nonsense. People still die. People still get infected. They die our at hospitals at alarming rates, despite our relatively young demographic. They are just delaying something unavoidable by threatning our future.

People are missing the opportunity to be safe and secure despite the headlines being aggressive in terms of the BeerVirus killing many.

Me, I buy but have anything delivered and do not open the door unless it is someone I know and the delivery guys know I won't open the door.

The wife is 7 hours north of me and has been for 2 months or so as we are not going to travel during this time to not come into contact with anyone/anything that could be an issue.

If I do open the door to someone I'm in full protection gear, won't shake hands and will not allow them to get close to me.

Anyone who is not being careful is nuts, absolutely nuts. This may not affect you in a severe way but why take that chance?

In my opinion lockdown is ‘unwise’, does more harm than good, and kills more people than a virus itself.

This is exactly what’s going on in most countries. Apparently the lockdown tinges their right to live a free and careless life.

Normalcy bias. Even people who I'd otherwise consider pretty grounded in reality have displayed some stunning stupidity over the last couple of weeks. Despite knowing people first hand who are getting floored by this thing.

Normally I don't care if other people choose to be stupid but they're putting other lives at risk. I know several people working in the NHS (UK healthcare) and almost all of them have tested positive and it sounds brutal. Yet we have people routinely flaunting the rules and attacking fucking cell towers because some YouTube video makes them think their idiotic opinion means something.

I don't spend a whole lot of time in the UK these days and this whole thing reminds me why.

8th of march
A good sign that it’s under control.
For some reason if you tell thoes people to go out they won't.. it's like drugs if they are illegal they do them but if they started as legal they won't tho them at all
This proves it, people are just children in adult bodies lol.
the "British Public" thinking the rules don't apply to them and as long as they aren't coughing they can meet up and see friends.
That kind of entitlement deserves a fucking beating lol
Thank your wife for her services.

Every guy I came across on my drive to the hospital had his mask covering just his mouth and not the nose. Same goes for a lot of the patients and their families. Smh

I definitely don’t mind people trying to get a breath of fresh air every now and then but to go on drives and then post videos online saying they’re brave enough to come out in this pandemic is just pure stupidity.

I have seen journalists and media do that here, lol

People has the mentality that it won't happen to them and is because of that kind of mentality it puts other people at risk. And watch the same people who was against the lockdown will show up at the hospital begging for help.

If you ignored the attention economy and looked at the data properly you would see the true story.

Risk of death is way lower than we have been lead to believe. The true cost of shutdown will be felt for years to come.

In my country people run away from isolation centers where they are treated
The ignorance level is high

I live in usa and Mexico

First month the streets are empty

2nd month streets are full

I across the border every day. First month the border ask where you going, if not work. They send you home

Now I see people with luggage and people you know that are not working example people with canes

Most places are closed

I wish people would stay inside.

I lost lot of muscle due to gyms closed

My favorite food Chinese closed since March 20

Btw I am going to work everyday

In my country, a big influencer + some international football players are paying $0.1 - $0.2 to charity, for per 1 follower two Paradise Hotel/Ex on the Beach participants are losing the entire May. They lost over 10k combined the first 24h this "campaign" was running.

The PH/EotB guys did a lot of partying and sh#t, and every time they told the media that it was the last time, they shall never do it more etc before they did fck it more up.. Those are supposed to be role models, so why should they be allowed to not follow the authorities' contagious measures - but rather go to parties, and the rest of us not?

Rebelliousness is in the nature of every human and this is the reason you see a lot of people still being on the roads or shops or markets. The level of ignorance these people have is amazing. Sad to see such a response. One would think that we would act responsibly but no, we are acting the exact opposite.

Agree with this, the same when people run panicking when there is earthquake, the earthquake itself didn't cause casualties, but the panicking make casualties, someone got stomped to death in the panic.
