How do new meme pages get 1m+ followers?

I have seen a lot of meme pages (mostly the private ones that you have to follow, and say "going private soon") get like 1 million or more followers and lots of interaction. Although they are all new.

How in the heck do they do that?? Am I missing something?

yea they pay big memes or related pages for promotion and those pages show half post of the page to build curiosity and tell to follow this page which is accepting only 1000 new followers or something like that so people follow them fast and this is how they grow faster

Yeah, I always see that for pages like shithead steve or whatever, but does this really help them get to a million followers within the span of a few days?

They're usually started by people who own other meme pages and cross promote.

Yeah, just made it for fun, trying to grow it. Tried everything, even Facebook ads, but didn't pan out too well

Often they know the owners of big pages (e.g. @pubity or memezar) and they buy multiple shoutouts from the owners.

The owners often have multiple accounts (often more than 50+ meme pages) and they can give a discount on shoutouts.

Then when they payed for the services, they send them a clickbaity Video with “OMG, FOLLOW HIM, HE POSTS THE CRAZIEST STUFF” and tell them to post it.

That's what I thought actually, you do see the cross promotion happening very clearly. But, how did the first page they created get to that level. Isn't this a saturated niche?

Thank you. That's actually very helpful. I never actually noticed them deleting posts after 24 hours (aka temp posts). I will be keeping an eye.

I remember the time when "kalesalad" was growing rapidly. seems like the owner of that acc also owned a media network with a team, or a research tool for twitter, to find fresh trending content faster than anyone + powerlikes made its fame

The first page was made when Instagram came out and growth was easy. Kind of like those rushing to get big on TikTok right now.
