Hello guys I am trying to avoid google penalty for over optimized anchor keyword. I run a music niche. I have used my main keyword for a long time but I want to avoid it now. So I used branded + keyword and only branded link.

Now since I run a music download niche is it save to use the artiste name and point the link to to my homepage and category.
E.g
Drake
Rihanna

And so on.

I was want to ask if it will serve as over optimized keyword since I am using the name of the artiste instead of music download as my main keyword.

Say music so write best music in 2020, guide on best much you can listen to etc
Wow, how wish this can be auto generated for me or is there any seo tools that does this?

Hi, when it comes to anchor texts, you should make sure you distribute them according to a certain ratio. About 50% of your links should be placed with the branded keyword, but the rest should be naked URLs, some other keywords you have and definitely some generic anchor texts like "find out more" "click here" and so on. Everyone who replied above is right about the long-tail keywords, you should focus on those as they are often less competitive. Don't forget that when it comes to SEO everything is pretty individual, if we are jumping niche to niche. Do some research on your competitors, see what they are doing and you will have less trouble coming up with how to outrank them. Good luck!

Thanks very much, your reply sounds as the best, I will follow branded link for good 2months, I strongly believe its the best way to build link without penalty, once again thank you.

I don't think you can "over optimize" anchor text. Actually the more optimized the better. If you are using the same anchor for every single link then you are not over optimizing, you are doing things wrong. Like they told you, you always need to diverisfiy your anchor text, I can't tell you the exact % of times you should be using your primary KW because every niche is different and it can very a lot. Just look at what your top competition is doing and replicate it
