SEO: To split similar keywords or not?

Hey guys,

Do you think it's best to create 2 separate pages for similar keyword or to combine them on one page.

For example, let's say you have:
Retirement simulator (60,500 monthly searches)
Retirement calculator (27,100 monthly searches)

Would you combine both keywords into one page or would you create 2 pages and have different content that would allow you to rank for both terms?

for my point of view, i will make 2 separate pages targeting those KWs with 2000 word count article each, and sparkling LSI KWs, and at the end, i will interlink them with exact match keyword, but this just me

What @the gent said. I am also focusing on granulating more on these days. I even split really low search keywords like 100 - 200 monthly searches.

With big keywords like the ones you mentioned, I would definitely split them apart and interlink them properly.

though I don’t advise client to split for low searches but yes for hard rankings keywords make sense, and for all the keywords I do focus hard on interlinking as it helps a lot

Mr Positive, I understand that it would vary based on the keywords and how closely they match other keywords, but what's your threshold to create a page with a new keyword? Is it 1000 monthly searches, 5000, 10000?

it depends on how much will I suggest my clients to spend to get it, there some keywords easy with high keywords and for that spending makes sense,
