New Forum, New Rules: Let's Update The Forum Rules

No politics and religious discussions means exactly that. We do not discuss politics or religion on BHW.

There are no hidden meanings. That's straightforward to anyone who reads the rules, even if English is their second language.

Stop it. Just fucking stop it.

What is so taboo on here about wanting to help others not be confused?

Currently there is a political thread that was made recently and was posted in by a mod that was engaging in the discussion and is still open.

The rules as mentioned in https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/politics-and-religion.512479/ have been expanded from what is used for the meaning according to dictionaries compared to what is used on BHW. However the thread hasn't been updated and is the same as it was nearly 5 years ago.

It seems that a list of banned things similar to the the one used for the download section may be good or some examples or a short explanation.

That thread states that political or religious discussions are not allowed, and also goes on to include blatantly inflammatory threads. I feel like this is a very clear indicator of the kinds of topics that are not allowed, but obviously you disagree. That's fine, but I'd like some examples of what you are referring to so I can have a better understanding of what you mean, because I just can not see how these rules could be considered ambiguous.

No. You're not pulling that shit on me.

You're sitting here pretending like you want to help when really you're just here to start shit. How do I know that? Bc you're sitting here arguing with the mods and trying to play mind games as if we're stupid enough to fall for your tricks.

You broke the rules. You've been a member here long enough to know better. You were repeatedly warned. You got temp banned. Now you're back doing the exact same thing you did last time: causing trouble just for the sake of it.

You have learned nothing.

@Capo Dei Capi - it is not unusual for someone to ask why they got a warning and typically we give an answer that is specific to what they did, how it violates BHW policies and ask them not to do that again.

Usually they do not do it again but sometimes you get the guy that just won't take the word of a staff member for one reason or another and do the same dang thing with a twist (just had one today doing the twist after a complete explanation as to what he did wrong in fact).

While it is appreciated that they know how to make a twist of their original violation because that shows creativity in their marketing (even if they are trying to slip in some Religious or political commentary, they are still marketing an agenda) it is not appreciated and rather frustrating that they don't give a flying flip about that particular rule.

The rules are there for a variety of reasons and the main one is so that 99.9% of the members and visitors can have a pleasant experience here and violating them can cause an unpleasant experience for many.

For every word in the English language there is more than one meaning or a variation of the "main stream" meaning so nitpicking the way the ToS is written is not going to get anyone anywhere.

My .02 USD.

The rule has been interpreted to including anything that has connections to particular historical group that no longer exists. It's not something that I expected at the time to be something that the rule would encompass. I know now, and it would I think it would be smoother to update that thread/make new one or add a new post.

Something like what YT uses is nice and clear for everyone.:
"Controversial or sensitive subjects and events, including subjects related to war, political conflicts, natural disasters and tragedies, even if graphic imagery is not shown"

@Capo Dei Capi Bro, relax. Go grab some beer or soda and/or popcorn and watch some movies or cartoons. A subjective discussion always has at least 2 sides of story, and besides you won't be able to change anybody's belief system.

Also, don't rely on this "if someone does it, why can't I do it?" Believe me, you should feel blessed that you're no1 target from BHW when it comes about politics, and you're at the edge of being banned. This way you'll think twice, and that flame will slowly drain.(I mean it should be like that)

Do you really think that you'll solve something if your argument is correct? Is the ego massaging really that important?

And to clear one thing: that's what political discussions want from you, to steer that repulse from you which heats up the talk.

Let the average morons from social media to keep discussing about those stuff while you rake the money from their stupidity, or go bang a girl or something.

My speculation is that you have some sort of frustration irl( no vagina, not enough money, not enough friends).

When I was arguing in my head about shit like that, after 2 minutes I'd start playing a video game and just by miracle I didn't cared about arguing anymore and I felt shitty even thinking about.

It was like giving milk to a hungry crying baby.

Food for thought.

I'd ask for clarification on what you are referring to when you mention a "particular historical group that no longer exists, but I don't see that ending well, so I'm going to leave that.
Frankly, I'm concerned that requiring a broader list of subjects to be included as forbidden topics will only validate members that are attempting to be pedantic and get around the fact that they have broken the rules.

Anyway, I will say that this discussion is getting off track and I'm concerned that the thread is now being hijacked somewhat. @Capo Dei Capi, thank you for putting your ideas forward. We have taken them under consideration. I don't think any further debate is necessary.

If anyone has something else they would like to discuss regarding the thread, go ahead.

I like the idea of banning Skype, with one exception: marketplace sellers should be able to post their skype ID, as they normally use it for customer service.

This would really limit the chances of people being scammed.

We should also really look out for people posting live IDs too. Idk if we can ban the word "live" but the live ids followed by random letters and numbers are actually set up with a phone and not an email address. That makes it easier to scam someone bc if you look them up, you only get a phone number, and we all know how easy it is to go through those.

I mentioned this, a while back. Every shitlist thread I've seen, consists of a Skype chat. I doubt it's coincidence.

We've begun taking some steps about the Skype issue fairly recently. For instance, BTB and I close every Skype group thread we come across (I'm not sure of either one us have gone into detail as to why we started doing this, but if not, I'll open up a thread with an explanation).

As for "ran-dumb" new members luring members to Skype and scamming, I've spoken with one of the in-house moderators about this and it appears we're all aware that the Skype scammers in the freelancer forums are problematic. I'm hoping these sections can get reworked ASAP because I'm willing to bet that it will reduce the number of Shit List threads significantly. Of course, we'll still have those morons who go to Skype and get scammed after being contacted by a scammer via PM, but we can't fix stupidity.

I totally agree, the trouble is it doesn't matter how many times people say it and it's been said many times, common sense just goes out the window when something too good to be true is posted or PM'd, 95% of the shit list threads I read could be avoided if people just used a modicum of common sense.

.

almost 10 years - never been scammed once
and only 2 refunds in all that time. ide say not to shabby.

If everything in this posting is an official rule it should definitely be in the TOU/TOS otherwise it begs newbies to break more rules. I'm glad to have found this but still, centralized rules (assuming they affect all areas of the forum) are ideal.

This thread was created before I was a moderator; nothing in here is necessarily a rule, although some of the suggestions I made back then got added in later or clarified to actually be part of another rule.

Example. This:
The signature banner gif rule - I heard that a member received an infraction because their signature gif was "too fast". I've never heard of this being a rule before, and while it might fall under rule #5's "or anything else annoying", that seems pretty vague.
Later became rule 5.1.
5.1 - Signature Banners should not display bare skin, (nudity, for example, persons in bikinis and lingerie are not acceptable) suggestive images, religious reference, or vulgar language are not acceptable. Your signature maybe removed at BHW's discretion and an infraction will be applied. Banners should not be similar to other advertisers on the site so as to create confusion, this includes signatures within threads! You can use jpg, png or limited animated gif’s, the refresh rate on any graphic or text within the gif should not be less than 3 seconds. Annoying or flashing images are NOT acceptable, that includes text flashing, and text flying in at any position, glitch effects, flash is NOT accepted, the file size of any banner should not exceed 200KB, ideally your banner size should be 100KB or less for loading speed - banners slowing BHW maybe removed. Your banner should not contain claims that are false or misleading, e.g. “Approved by Google” when clearly, they have not been approved by Google.
Anyway, this thread should actually be closed since it's more confusing to everyone now that I'm an administrator.
